Differing interests are fine, but when France says one thing, does another to derail our efforts, that makes them our enemy. Screw the French.

Well you know Glock, your problem is that you think that everything in this world has something to do with the US and in the same way I am impressed the power and importance you give to french political behaviour. Thank you for that but be aware that US and France, whatever problems they have, are just a tiny part of this huge world with much less power and importance on people that they would like to have...

I don't give the French much importance at all. I'm just calling it like I see it. They are liars, working against America's best interest. At least North Korea has the balls to admit that they want to hate us. France can't even do that.

You know, you can tell everything you want, I'm french and my best friends live in Pleasant Garden, a little town close to Greensboro, NC. I go there pretty often. So I have no hate to admit at all, I have much better things to do in my life
Fill up your life with hate if you like to, that's your choice.

It's the French that hate us. A frenchie visiting America gets a warm reception. An American visiting France (or even french-speaking Canada, for that matter) gets the finger. Screw them.

That's not true Glock, that's a lie (maybe a TV one). I'm working for US travel agencies here in Paris, taking care of the organisation of their client's stays and I can tell you that we never experienced any problem. We have thousends of Americans visiting Paris each month and they have exactly the same joys and problems as other tourists can have. I work often in partnership with the US consulate in Paris to solve some administrative problems and I can tell u they make a great work aswell.

By the way, if one day you accept to check it by yourself, you're more than welcome, just send me a pm and I'll take care of the rest

Thanks for the invite, but Paris has nothing for me, as I don't care for the food. My last trip to Europe was to Athens and Rome, which was more to my liking. My next trip across the pond will likely be a ski trip, maybe Austria or Germany.

You're welcome

But concerning Germany, what kind of ski ressorts do they have except Garmish Patenkirchen which is surrounded by Austria.

WRt Paris, well there are pretty many reasons to go there. First if you are interested in any sort of arts, if you want to see marvellous pitorresque architecture. Of course food would be another reason too, but you are not so much interested in it as it seems (Thats in fact your problem ), and not to forget if you are interested in history Paris is nearly a must.

Anyway, if you are visiting Tirol in Austria for a ski holiday, a one day trip to the states-capital Innsbruck might be nice trip. Marvellous panorama to see there.

@SiTiS
You are working for making American tourists their Paris visit as enjoyable as possible?
Thats funny, when I was in Paris last year, I met a Parisienne who helped organizing the stay of American students (perhaps also from other countries I am not sure anymore) who come to Paris for studying at private colleges or so.

Seems a real bunch of people has to do in this sector.

In 2004, we received 71.4 million tourists in France, most of them landing in Paris. That makes us the 1st rank worldwide for touristic destinations and makes a lot of business. I'm not working with students, only VIPs

I have no idea what Germany has to offer for skiing. My interest there is to see friends, eat sausage, oogle German women, drink beer and enjoy the rugged, old timber type of residential architecture. I suppose my dream trip would be a week of skiing in Austria with some side trips to stuff myself and gawk.

Well, she was not working with regular students either, just with students with the appropriate bank account (most likely the one of their dad )

Btw, because we are talking about touristic numbers. Austria is nearly amont the top ten (number 11) in absolute numbers, and this allthough the whole country has less inhabitants than Paris alone
We have 18 mio tourists annually.

In terms of nights spent in Austria by tourists we are even number 4 ! Right after France (number 3)
I hope my source is right though.

You might get a glimpse what a role tourism plays in a country with 2/3 of the tourists but only 1/6 of the inhabitants.
