Re: Anti-Americanism 'feels like racism'

yeah yeah, now search all my posts for typing errors. You know what I'm talking about.
And I'm not backing down on my earlier assertion. With your comments you're insulting France as a total, absolutely everything about France and being a French
(Only to make it very clear: French politics, French people, French culture, French Fries and baguettes, there I hope you know now to 100% what I mean).
Now let's stop talking about detailles and continue with the important stuff. You and I understand each other perfectly, even if that one sentence you're refering to was a little ill formulated, i must admit.

We're not talking about poor sentence structure here. In your post 477 you accused me of wanting to "send the whole culture behind that sinful government to hell", and mentioned the word "hell" 8 times. I'm simply asking you to point out to me where I indicated this.

Or did you misinterpret Southern US culture?

Re: Anti-Americanism 'feels like racism'

Look Glockmail, we don't want to talk about gramatics, this makes the thread boring and probably you and me are the only ones still reading all this anyhow. If there is something you don't understand in my posts than no prob, just ask and I will try to respond as accurate as possible.
ok,your first question:

By the phrase: "you're sending a culture to hell" I meant you are insulting that specific culture, letting it down such as to make that culture look inferior and worthless. Why are you making that specific culture look dumb? for that question simply look at my third last post.

More questions?

Re: Anti-Americanism 'feels like racism'

I think we are talking about something more than semantics here. So basically you interpret "screw the French" with "send the whole culture behind that sinful government to hell". Is that your current position?

Semantics. Let me rephrase Morgenes' question for your benefit. Here goes:

"glockmail, are you aware that you are a stupid inbred specimen of a racist redneck?"

1. How, exactly, does my German-Irish-Scottish-English ancestry make me an "inbred"?
2. Please point out where I have been "racist".
3. Please explain how this northern bred, well traveled, highly educated licensed professional, devout Catholic, living in a restricted neighborhood of a major metropolitan city is "redneck".
4. Stupid is a relative term. Please explain how your baseless, unprovoked and incorrect insult, attempting to put words in the mouth of another poster, is not stupid.

Re: Anti-Americanism 'feels like racism'

Glockmail:
The sum of all your comments like:
screw the French, the French are pussies, the French are liars, the French are our enemies etc.
certainly does give me the impression that you hate the French as a race, as a nation, and not only their politics or so.

So I cleary interprete your comments as pure hate, and the French guy besides me (I'm studying in the French part of Switzerland) also read your posts and interpretes them the same away I do. Or why don't you ask a French guy on these forums what he thinks about your comments?, that could clarify everything.

Should I raelly be the one misunderstanding your southern slang and phrases like:
French are Pussies
actually means: Hey, I love France!!!
and
French are liars
actually means: I invite all French people home to me!! Lets have a grill party!
and
The French are our enemies
actually means: Hey! the enemies of France are my enemies too!!
and
Screw the French
actually means: C'mon French girl, love me tender!

in that case I'll say sorry and I will take all accusations back. But in that case I beg you to change your slang language more towards international standarts, because your comments are widly comprehended as insults out of pure hate.
In the end it doesn't matter what you and I think about it. In the end it only matters how a French person interpretes your insults. If the French person perceives your comments as insults against French civilisation, but you didn't mean it that way, than you already lost glockmail, because you used the wrong language/expressions to communicate, and that is than alone your fault. Whatever, direct your last Question to one of the French guys on these forums, the answer of a French person is the answer to your question.

However Glockmail, I have the feeling your trying to defend yourself from the accusation that you're a pure France-Hater, or even a racist. So, just make it clear how you really think about France.
If I'd only read a sentence like:

"I have problems with French policies and I find the French people a little arrogant, but I do respect that they have their own pride and oppinions. Live an let live"

from ya than I would also take everything back I said about you in previous posts.

But as long as you come saying France is the enemy of the USA and French are pussies and liars, you're not giving me any reason to change my oppinion about ya, in that case you remain a flamer with racistic tendencies.

Alright, I'll take your quiz

1. I suppose if this mix occurred sufficiently long ago, you could still be inbred. Let's say I was wrong, appearances can be deceiving.

2. Morgenes already did point out exactly how you were a racist. You are a racist because you stigmatize all inhabitants of nations you dislike with sentences such as "the french are liars", "screw them", etc. ad nauseam...

3. If you aren't a redneck, you do a good impersonation of one, what with your xenophobic attitude, and the "Southern by the grace of God" notice next to your flag.

4. I did put words in the mouth of Morgenes, but I'll await his reaction before offering an apology. My insult (you're right, it was an insult), was neither baseless nor unprovoked, and you had it coming. Stop making racist comments, I'll stop labelling you a racist.

EDIT: I just saw Morgenes' reaction to my post, so I'm afraid there's no apology forthcoming for putting words in his mouth.

France is the enemy of the US per the reasons stated (liars, backstabbers). You should argue the points raised instead of attempting to demonize the messenger.

They are pussies as well for the reasons stated. Does that mean that all French are pussies? Of course not. But collectively they elected the present government, and the pussy-liar policies have been going on for generations, so I expect a majority of Frenchies to be pussies and liars.

So it is wrong to stigmatize the French, but OK to stigmatize people from the South?

Ah, but not all Southerners are rednecks. This denomination clearly refers to a specific subgroup of US society, and has more to do with attitude than ancestry or geographical location.

1. My mom was Irish-Scottish-English, and my Dad German-Irish, so for me to be inbred would be difficult, if not impossible.
2. The french, as evidenced by their elected leaders, are liars. Y’all elected them, and this reflects on you. Screw the liars, which means leave them to their own devices; ignore them- refuse cooperation and trade.
3. I’m not anything-a-phobic. The only thing that scares me is the devil.
4. I don’t think there is anything racist about calling the french what they are, based on present and past behavior. Perhaps you are a racist for calling me a inbred and redneck.
5. An apology from you is not requested. As I’ve said before and defined for you above: screw the french!

France (and many other countries) opposed an UN supportet iraq war and they denied the US to use their airspace. Your issue of the French government covering the corrupt officials is pure speculation. More reasons you havent given me.
But all these issues I commented in my previous posts, go read them.

Well in short we can say, you consider everybody who doesn't give in to US demands your enemy. Be with me or against me! Obey or DIE!!
Boy, you're really living in a very simplified dream world. Did it never come to your head that the French might have had good reasons to not let the US use their airspace? Did you ever try to understand the other side, try to see the problem from an 180 degree rotated perspective?
Your problem is your always looking at the same coin from the same side, the idea has never dawned in your head that their is a second image behind the coin.

Actually the vast majority of all nations was opposed to the Iraq war. From an pure US perspective all these countries look like very bad boys. But there is not only the US perspective. There is also the German perspective, the French Perspective, the Canadian Perspective etc.
The first step to a peaceful world is to understand that these multiple perspectives do exist!! Than you can start to understand each other and have good relations. But that requires you to break your nutshell and finally open your eyes!!
But of course, if you feel so comfortable in your nutshell than you probably will stay in there for the rest of your life, along with all your madness.

Substantiate your claims, this is a public forum, not a schoolyard playground. You have yet to demonstrate how french elected leaders are liars (especially considering the track record ofyour own leaders), and were it the case, how this would reflect on the french (I can think of tons of possible attenuating circumstances). As for leaving the french to their own devices, why should we care?

A phobia is not necessarily a fear. It can be a dislike, or aversion. One usually implies the other, but still.

You do not have the knowledge of the full past and present behavior of all the french people. You're judging on incomplete, and probably incorrect as well, information.

I am not, in fact, although it is hard to remain so when confronted time and again to the intolerance of scores of your countrymen.

Indeed, France refused to let the US use its airspace while engaged in an act of war against Lybia. Why? Because France was not at war with Lybia, nor had any desire to be. Good point, Morgenes.
