Anti-Americanism 'feels like racism'
Quote:
Quote:
When we see some of the most unbelievable rightwing hate coming from the likes of Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and so many others, and as millions around the world can hear them as well, then it should come as no surprise why we are hated by so many. We attacked a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and sit while the presumed perpetrator roams around somewhere north of Pakistan (if that's really where he rumore to be) putting out audio tapes and threatening American interests whenever Bush's poll numbers look like they couldn't go any further South. It is this transparency of lunacy coming from this country that has perplexed so many around the world. And we throw our military might around with such arrogance and blind hubris, that it's no wonder that many more countries now want the bomb. This is Bush country. This is where he and his rightwing neocons have taken this country today. |

The option "human nature" is missing in the poll. General frustration usually seeks the easiest target. Quote:

Nonono, if you want to do it properly it has to be either the eternal jew or the zionist world domination conspiracy. Just "the jew" won't do.

Go to England, straight from Heathrow to Victoria station and go to the first pub you see. Then open your mouth and watch what happens.... I have been living in Australia for the past 8 years and the degree of anti American sentiment I have seen there has grown exponentially. When I first arrived I was a celebrity there. I just left 2 weeks ago and I couldnt go out to a pub with out gettting into it with someone at least once. People hate us dude, you need to admit that to yourself. We are not held in high esteem and are not percieved as "the liberators "we once were in WWII. Just the facts mate. |

![]() I'm not sure if this is true, but from a specifically german point of view it seems possible that Britain is a place where resentment can thrive. Probably it is not so much about Americans but some brits rather have a go at every target that offers itself. What do you think? What I mean is, I know a few of my fellow Germans who have a rather negative view of America, but I can't imagine any of them call someone names because he is American. They may very well berate you about Bush, the Kyoto protocol, Iraq, McDonalds or whatever (this is actually quite likely), but personal insults just because someone happens to be american...
