In how far is that being better or nearer to the people like hiding in holes?

I don't know why GW would give a rat's ass, just like Germany didn't give a rat's ass when it released the terrorist that murdered a US Naval officier on a hijacked plane and wouldn't extradite him to the US where he would have been tried and executed and did their best to prevent SH from being removed from power.

Executions are illegal in Germany. And if I am not wrong extraditions to countries where people would be likely to face forms of punishment illegal in Germany are unconstitutional or at least against the law.

Accept it or not. Germany is under the rule of law.

So what was the sense of the visit to Germany than? To make Merkel her life even more difficult? Hardly in the interest of the US...

When it suits them. Seems Germany had no problem violating the sanctions against SH.

New blood in control in Germany. Maybe he's hoping to charm her?

Nice how you intermix the state with citizens acting criminal.
Its in principal easy: Prove it, and they will be punished by the German courts.

The fact that Germany is a country under the rule of law, does not mean that criminality has been abolished. Otherwise the US would hardly qualify as being under the rule of law either...

You know it, I know it. So please...

Maybe, thats the sole possible interpretation. But then again this action of him remains a mystery:

Tough to prove when the UN's Secretary General refuses all investigations into all of the UN's questionable acts. Look how far they got investigating his son, for example.

Agreed. No country is squeaky clean. There are always exceptions to the rules. Some justifiable, some not.

I believe it's a southern gesture of friendliness. I've experienced it a few times in my life as well. There's nothing sexual about it. It's equivalent to patting someone on the back or shoulder when greeting them. Much ado about nothing, IMO.

What has Germany to do with it? Germany is not the UN nor are the weapon traders state owned. Germany will bring anyone to justice though in case enough material can be acquired.

Well perhaps you are right, one could not suppose Bush would have any diplomatic skills anyway...
