Do you think so?
If its in the legitimate case of defense (ie in an very urgent case of saving the own life of the soldier because of Israeli forces shooting at him) people around the globe will be able to make a judgement away from stressing the Holocaust.
But understandably the Germans themselves are not very enthusiastic about that thought.
Btw, you know that the German marine is controlling the sea in front of Lebanon now. Guess what happened. An Israeli helicopter targeted an German ship in international waters that was not part of the official convey that was located in Lebanese waters. It did not only target it, but even shoot as far as I have heard. There is no doubt that it was the Israelian army, investigations are running.
To give you further details: The ship was not on the official list nor were the Israelian army informed about its mission. But it was very clear that it was a German ship. No doubt about that. No terrorists magically tear a German type war ship flagged as German support ship out of their hats. And thats perhaps also the reason it got attacked. It as an air surveilance and intelligence ship. It is able to recognize any Israeli air strikes and movements above Lebanon. I guess Israel simply did not like the idea of being so effectively observed.
If you want to have some fun though, just exchange the names Germany and Israel, and than think it through again... no way that Germany could afford that what Israel could do without too much of a consequence.
