To describe the problem i must say that Saakashvili is almost the same headache for Russia as Chavez for USA.

No. There're only transport and post blocades.

I'm actually tired of those stories... Better forget everything and have fun...
When you block transport, the goods won't move from country to another, so no trade, so an economic blockade. as said by BBC

You still haven't given any good reason for Russias actions, just an image that slanders 2 presidents.

I don't think that that photoshop image will slander Bush's perfect reputation...

I don't think that blockade will last for a long time. Maybe it will last 1-2 weeks...

But since the state has to protect its soldiers and people, i perceive this act as positive because it gave a result - soldiers were released.

There are real reasons to make fun of Bush, why take the trouble to invent stuff?

The spies/soliders are released, so why does the blockade go on?

The transport blockade still didn't touch Georgia. However the goal was achieved - soldiers were released, so I think that the blockade will be called off few days later.

Re: Georgian Democracy 4ever!

Possibly arrests of soldiers in Georgia have for an object to hide for press the repressions on opposition. When soldiers were prisoned, the georgian opposition leaders were arrested too. But because of the scandal among Russian and Georgia this event passed unnoticed.

Re: Georgian Democracy 4ever!

I don't want neither war with Georgia nor blockade of it.

And i don't think that president Putin should build democracy in Georgia like president Bush in Iraq.

Re: Georgian Democracy 4ever!

Democracy like Russia is enjoying at the moment? I'd imagine they feel the need to pass that offer.
Blockade seems yet another way to tease Georgia. Why do you harass them at all? If you do not wat them back in the wide lap of mother Russia, let them be. And we are not bying that "Georgia capetured four innocent soldiers for no reason"
Oh, opposition or separtists were arrested?

Not separatists but political opposition.

Then why did Georgia released them if there is a real reason?

Actually neither South Osetia, nor Abkhazia want to be with Georgia. Georgia has to accept it.

I have heard quite something else. It went sort of like this: "Anything but no Russian rule." Hmm, odd thinking if they feel to need to jump in to your Federation.
Georgia had to release them because Russians were more than a real threat. What were the intelligence officers even doing in Georgia?

Re: Georgian Democracy 4ever!

There was the election to parlament on 5 october in Georgia. It seems like Saakashvili organized this scandal with russian soldiers to hide the repressions on opposition.... Leaders and members of opposition were arrested and imprisoned.

Georgian leaders are always playing in very cunning style. Just remember Stalin (Djugashvili) and Beria...

Georgian president to publicly recant in NY in journalists harrassment

I hope that Bush’s administration has at last began to keep their ears open to what is said about Georgian president Saakashvili on the Internet in respect of freedom of speech and democracy in his country. Perhaps, that must be the exact reason why Saakshvili was invited to visit New York these days to take part in the 62-nd UN General assembly session. As far as I know, after that Saakashvili will also take part in a round table discussion devoted to human rights and democracy where he will get it in the neck. It is widely known that there is no democracy in Georgia after all and human rights are widely violated there. We should have long ago brought Saakashvili to his level! Saakashvili’s Georgia is a disgrace of the US! Washington has laid out so much money and efforts to build democracy in Georgia and what’s the effect? It all got in vain, there is no freedom of speech and journalists have no case to expose to light exact developments of Georgia. Things in that country are not that good as they are shown in Georgian newspapers and on TV channels! Georgian journalists have to lie romancing Saakashvili’s achievements! In case there is any journalist who disobeys, he is put to prison immediately and out of court. For this current moment there are virtually no free news media in Georgia, all of them were brought under control of president Saakashvili’s administration! I’m happy that Saakashvili will at last get his lumps.
