With all due respect, coming from the perspective of a Canadian - who is therefore "nice and friendly" by definition (see OP) - I think you raise some valid points here. Faced with your sincere assertion of personal virtue, I can only stand in humble respect for your self-righteous point of view. Americans are much maligned and it is entirely unfair for the world to treat Americans badly just because they go and invade a few countries and kill off a few hundred thousand innocent civilians for no demonstrable or justified reason whatsoever. This is just not fair.

Furthermore, I commend the kindness and prudence demonstrated in the upstanding morality of your daily affairs, though, being good neighbours, we must respectfully protest against your harming of your ceiling as part of your bedtime rituals as such actions violate our local anti-noise bylaws.

As final note, I should like to request that you be so kind enough to ensure that it is Canadian oil you are burning off in your gas-guzzling car which you are wont to leave idling overnight. It is important for us Canadians to derive maximum profits from your activities so that we Canadians can have the economic prosperity that permits us the leisure to engage in self-righteous indignation at the polluting habits of Americans.

The main reason for arrogance is an isolation. People are usually isolated either from the society or from the rest of the world because of their personal choice. Once you are isolated you don’t compare yourself with others building unfounded impression about your superiority. So you are arrogant because you are isolated then you are isolated because you are arrogant and so on. To come out from this dark circle you need certain level of intellectual and spiritual capacity to bring you back to common sense of modesty and acceptance of your human imperfection.
