Re: How Cuba helps discriminated young Americans
Has Cuba been in any way irrational in international ties?
It's surprising to see that Cuba has maintained the position of Communist reform for so long. Perhaps it is due to having the US so close. I wouldn't call Communism wrong...usually it never becomes ideal, however under Castro, who can disagree with the advances that were made? |

You know whats funny, laca's posts sound exactly like the crap the USSR used to yell at us during the cold war.

FWIW, I've lived here 8 years, and I've never heard anyone refer to their apartment as a "flat". Even if they own a co-op or condo, they still often refer to it as their apartment.

Re: How Cuba helps discriminated young Americans
The first post is believable.
It is a fact that Cuba, which has some of the finest medical schools in the world does provide medical education for disadvantaged Americans, in return for the promise that they will serve the disadvantaged communities they came from. The language in the post is that of a person who speaks english as a second language, and it's not uncommon for half-siblings to have different last names and yet still refer to each other as brother and sister. I didn't see anything in the post that warranted calling the poster a liar. If you think that blacks and latinos experience no discrimination in the US, your head has to so far up your ass that you can see your teeth.

Was he quoting the woman, or relaying her story, if I heard a story about something hitting a windscreen, I would probably retell it using the word windshield.

Re: How Cuba helps discriminated young Americans
Did it ever occur to you that, if she's living in Canada, she might very well have learned to speak "British" English?
