Why not admit that the policy proposed in the article by the US is a complete overreaction to security concerns and is another way of fucking with the Canadian economy and is bullying behaviour (note the Canadian spelling) on the part of the US? You do that and then we'll talk. Until then I stand by my assertions. The policy is bullshit.

I think that if those are strengthened, then there should be no need for further fees. So I would essentially agree with you.

One f-bomb and you call it an obscenity-laced post. Study the softwood lumber issue Tim and then you might understand the truth in what I say. The US International Trade Court just ruled that the US case against Canada was wrong and that all softwood duties should be returned to Canada. I stand by my assertions. Canadians are tired of being fucked around by the US. If you can't handle the truth...and the language....post on a fantasy forum. Posts like yours which display typical US ignorance of Canada-US issues are the reason many Canadians are pissed off at Americans. You created that problem through your ignorance of Canada so fix the problem of your making. Don't complain when the victims of your policies bred in ignorance come back to bite you. I think Tim's point is well taken, to be fair. The hostility went way overboard and just tunes people out to the point in question.

This isn't a matter of all Americans being clueless--it's a matter of what governments do naturally, Canada included.

Personally, I smell a 'backdoor tax' or a lobbyist and/or contract group interest having gotten their 'doleout' here and the reasons formally cited are more or less the excuse for it. Certainly the points taken by the Canadians and the New York representative explain far more reasonable and effective ways to address the issue than these 'fees.'

Whew...governments just love coming up with new covers for...ahem... 'fees.'

You see, Canadians, the self-proclaimed nicest people in the world (whoope dee do), obviously are allowed to get all mad and go nuts because they are nice. Then they wonder why we can't get along with the US. Quite frankkly I am surprised the US treats us as good as they do. Not saying we should kiss its ass, but we aren't very nice neighbours. We don't want to discuss, we want to yell, blame, and criticize for every little thing.

Who would want to work with or help out or be friends with that? The only way we can work things out is too shut up. Stop whining, do something for ourselves, hold OUR government responsible for the problems in our country, and be civil neighbours. If we were to do these things the relationship between the countries would be much better and we would have a stronger North America, and none of these ridiculous border quarrels.

A buddy of mine tried to get into Canada once. He was moving to Toronto and hadn't gotten his VISA yet, but he had his ID's. He showed up at the border with his moving van and everything. The customs officer accused him of trying to sneak in to Canada. Now WHY would he do that with a huge moving van? He is now banned from Canada.
