Argentine Quote of the Day

At a memorial marking the 25th anniversary of the UK/Argentine war over the sovereignty rights to the Falklands/Malvinas, the keynote speaker, Argentina's Vice President, spoke of revitalizing Argentina's claim to the islands. Despite renewed political relationships between UK and Argentina, the victors (UK) have made no bones about their ownership and never saw any need for dialogue. The current Argentine administration is attempting to reopen discussions about resolving the once dead issue. He was quoted as saying the following:

"Argentina is not against cooperation as long as such cooperation contributes to creating the appropriate conditions for resuming dialogue on the question at hand," he said. "By way of dialogue, we will recover what belongs to us." (quote via CNN)

Is this modern diplomacy? "we are not against cooperation as long as we get our way"

That's how I read it.

Re: Argentine Quote of the Day

Um, yeah? All they are saying is that if UK won't come to the table on the Malvinas, then Argentina won't cooperate with them on the oil.
