When was the last time the US held a mass book burning of "counterrevolutionary" writings like the Universal Declaration of Human rights?

I think you are honorable. I understand why you want to apologize. You want everyone to know that this is not the majority German way of thinking. I want to apologize for my President. So I understand and I thank you for your humble apology on behalf of your country. I apologize too, on behalf of mine.

You are talking about freedom of speech alone. Obviously the concept of a dictatorship is that there arent any - not exactly a big secret. Away from that (and the lack of democracy at the Cuban state level) I doubt that they are violating human rights more than the U.S. are.

You did not get the whole point of that conversation Sam. The issue was that it was only the individual resposnible for making the comments that needed to apologize, not the entire German nation nor did he need to apologize for the entire German nation. Everything with you is partisan and about Bush. This thread has nothing to do with Bush, and whats more what make you think you have any right to apologize for me or any other American. We are all capable of doing that ourselves if we feel sufficiently motivated by our own individual actions. You may apologize only for yourself.

Matt if you go back and look it is this same issue he talks about whenever he discusses the US. It is because as he admitted he has little actual knowledge of us and he saw this documentary on US prisons put out by ITV some time ago. One of the specific incidents he mentions repeatedly I know is a decade old since it involes Missouri prisoners in a Texas jail I was living in the St. Louis area at the time so I remember the news accounts. Moreover if it was that bad how did local news accounts even make it to television, would they not have covered this up.

No I repsect him because at least he admits he doesn't know that much about us and usually doens't talk much about the States. There are others on here that have even less knowledge than he does and still try to pass themselves off as knowing something about us. At least he doesn't, except on this on issue usually.
