Re: Some Germans See Positive Aspects to Nazi Rule, Poll Shows

This "trains running on time" is just a joke referring to deportations. People use it when their train has delay.

Btw, 'trains running on time' was an expression associated with Mussolini's fascists, not necessarily Hitler's fascists. Given German passions for schedules and engineering, it was an easy statement to make. Of course the Nazis made the trains run on time - the trains always run on time in Germany!

Bottom line is that the expression is euphemistic. The German state was quite non-functional throughout the 1920's with the Soviet-paid Red-agitators running rampant trying to extend the Soviet revolution to Germany. Hitler put Germany back to work. Thus, my expression of 'making the trains run on time'.

If the trains rode on time in the 60's, 70's and so on until today too, then the achievement is German and not Nazi.

Thirdly: so fucking what if it is.
The goal of the extermination of the Jews and the 'purification' of society by physically eliminating all opposition and all that did not conform to the insane racist standards of Nazism were on the books from day one.
This policy stands independent of fascism. That's a key point we obviously disagree upon. If you think fascism is dependent upon racism, you are going to be sorry in the long run. The fascists will use that to slip right on by you.

As I've said, painting Hitler and the Nazis as cartoon cut-out's of fascists is the best way to ensure that our world will get taken over by fascists.

The only way to see the difference is to address the issue dispassionately. Indeed, one of the most dangerous characteristics of fascists is their claims of competence - making trains run on time is quite appealing if the trains are running poorly.

Btw, WoI, I much prefer our other discussion upon this topic. This one is too facile. Please continue that one, not this one.
