"Tehran must not be allowed to become a nuclear weapons power"

But with that sentence as part of the U.S. stance, we reserve the right to judge their nuclear program and wage war to prevent it.
If we cannot allow them to have nuclear capability, we cannot also allow them to employ any nuclear program whatsoever (even if portions are for civilian electricity). As long as they still have active plants and facilities... this administration is not backing down, because the suspicion will still exist. It almost seems as if shutting down all their facilities is a pre-requisite for any diplomacy...
Only the rhetoric has changed. Until we actually engage in some diplomacy, our foreign policy in regard to Iran has not changed. They show no sign of backing down, and I see no chance of us really talking with them unless they do.
