Iran opens its first space centre

Iran opens its first space centre, riling the US - Yahoo! News

"Iran on Monday fired a rocket into space to mark the opening of its first space centre, triggering swift condemnation from the United States amid continued tensions over the Iranian nuclear drive"

Does this signal a change in the ME power balance. What does it mean to Isreal?

What do you think Bush will make of it?

Well good for them.

It's nice to see people investing in something other than militarization.

Well they are trying. This is just Iranian propaganda though and is being overblown.. I'm sure that they are truly capable of launching a small object into space... so are some of the rocket hobbyist clubs in the United States.

Until they put up a satellite that can actually do something, I'm not impressed.

This alone does not make them more of a threat to our national security, so fiery political rhetoric condemning their fledgling space program is not necessary.

Perhaps we might want to pay more heed to the Chinese space program who has demonstrated some capabilities beyond what we currently have.

lol, an other the country to the race to the moon!

seriously, this is so lame from them, just a question of prestige... they should spend it on their people like a oil refinery for example... Iran has so much raw oil in its soil, but they have regular shortage of gas... anyway...
