Yet again the turks prove that they are far from being ready to join the union. Erdogans fight against the assimilation of segregated emigrants in Germany shows clearly that the turkish nationalism always will outweight the good manners of the turkish. All attempts of cementing the turkish parallel society in Germany are hostile actions, against vital interests of the german people, and therefor have to be punished hard by our gouvernment. I fully support the conservatives on this issue, Germany should veto any attempt to bring Turkey closer to the Union until the Erdogan administration is replaced and a new gouvernment brings a formal apologize to paper.

I'm probably one of the only greens to appreciate your point of view here. If you think about Claudia Roth on this issue....

Yes when will these people ever wake up and take a strong stance on integration and immigration? I'm looking forward to the day a mainstream lefty can say things like "our immigrants come from a backwards culture" and not get lynched for it by his own party.

I feel it will still be many years. Though, some are taking steps in the right direction.

Well, I'm sorry, but while probably not deserving of a lynching, it's still a stupid thing to say, as there can be no objective standard for evaluating the "backwardness" of a culture. That good old White Christian prejudice against brown people is still alive and kicking, I see...

Not at all. Why is it suddenly wrong to view something, or others, as being backward? It in no way denotes racism.

No? But you cannot define backwardness, culturally speaking, so any assumptions of such would almost certainly have to arise from prejudice.

I disagree. Someone can think a culture, or a people, do things in a fucked up way but hold no prejudice against those people. For example; I think the practice of arranged marriages is a backward practice. Does that somehow make me racist, or prejudiced, against those to practice it?

Prejudice? How about the treatment of women, how about free speech? Is it prejudice to say we have a better culture in those areas?

Well, yes, it would be prejudice, but as I happen to share it, I can't entirely fault you for it. I think the fact that your own culture suits you better than any other would is a given, that doesn't mean other cultures are backward. Anyway, pointing out two things that you disagree with in a culture is hardly a summation of that whole culture. I think your initial statement was excessive.

Hmh. You really don't get it? If they come into your nation, and then act as it was theirs... They should follow the rules and laws of the nation they live in. That simple.

They are more racist. Teenager Turk gets killed by her own family for dating a non-turk. Beaten for acting like a non-Turk. Non-Turk gets a knife from his girlfriends brother...into the guts simply because is not a Turk.
