Yes, I do see your point. But the role of foil in the bottom drawer of my cabinet is of much less concern that the 10 gallon tank in my car that takes $40 to fill.

I found it interesting, though that when I was in China, almost everything I saw in the stores had a tag that said, "made in USA."

Also, when illegals can earn $67/hr. working construction, I have to wonder how many have lost a 'good paying' job.

Chinese children are allowed to do anything up to the age of four, then they get hit if they say or do anything their parents don´t like.
That´s why most chinese prefer to stay mentally at the age of four years.

Start growing up son, you´ll need to if you´ll ever want to be taken serious..

Americano;1225805]I'd like to see some links with numbers on that opinion. China educated its intelligentsia in the best western universities for decades and that core has been educating China itself since the late '90s.

That was in the news in Europe only yesterday, the USmedia seem to think it a matter of no importance.

Quote:
Hong Kong has always been head and shoulders above Taiwan in the accumulation and application of capital. Why would China seek advice from Taiwan, which like Hong Kong has been industrially joined at the hip to the mainland since the '80s? Taiwan would have more to lose by relocating current production from the mainland, their factories for instance, than China.
Hongkong has been sacked and is now in line with Beijing.
Since the Brits left Hongkong trade has reduced enormously.

Quote:
Taiwan rules China? That's preposterous.
This is meant in an economic sense. Without Taiwanes orders Chinas economy would falter.
And btw, Taiwan has not a single factory in mainland China.
They only order goods there and these goods can easily be ordered elsewhere.

My business contacts in China for longer than a decade now have always been channeled via Taiwan. The ones I tried via Hongkong were mostly ripoffs (chinese side).

Why is HK becoming known as the Asian financial capital, catering to most of Asia, the ME (in particular) and many Europeans?

I'm beginning to wonder if you know what you're talking about. Taiwan has numerous factories on the mainland, and I know from personal experience they've been there in various forms since the 1980s.

Silent hands in Taiwan behind the iPhone - International Herald Tribune

From the article:

"In all, Taiwan companies produced $31.5 billion in communications equipment and services last year, more than 50 percent above the total the year before, according to the institute, which expects production to reach a value of $46 billion by 2010. Less than a quarter of that was manufactured on Taiwan, with the bulk made on the Chinese mainland.

And Taiwan companies, like their rivals in Japan, South Korea and elsewhere in Asia, have increasingly shifted production to their factories in China to save money. With their close cultural, financial and linguistic ties to mainland China, Taiwan's companies have an edge over those from elsewhere."

This is pretty common knowledge in the business community, which makes me wonder if your statement of Taiwan having no factories in China is indicative of your overall knowledge of that business community.

I only dislike dishonesty.
who knows, we might even become friends if we were to meet sometime.
But that would mean, you´d have to accept other opinions and not stay on your constant : "i am right, you are wrong - I am good you are evil"

Yousee, the main attribute of democracy is tolerance. without it. there can be no democracy.
And at present, tolerance is what you lack.

Have a look at a german news site, haven´t found any in other media so far about this.

You´re talking of 1998.
We live in 2008. Things have changed since then.

Taiwanese are to date not allowed, nor is anybody else to buy land in China.
They give the money and the name to factories, but should China close the borders again, money and factories will be lost.
So, there is no possession.

Friends of mine have factories in Shenzen and near Shanghai but they have to pay bribes no end so their factories will not get "taken back" by the chinese.
No factory operating under a foreign name has a contract for longer than 12 years. After that time the contract MIGHT be prolonged or "repossessed" by China.
(btw not even chinese farmers can own land, it all belongs to the country.)

If you apply "norm" to a couple of your pals you might be right.

You can get into China for business via your own government, that means your company must be pretty big or via Hongkong or Taiwanese intermediates.

AND I know very well what I am talking about.
