Obama Bashing in Bavaria and Paris
apparently not everyone was enamored by the Obama Turkish coffe klatche.
I personally think that Turkey should be in the EU, then again, I a not a European and if European PM’s etc. were all over us ala, say Puerto Rico joining the US as a state etc. I am not sure I would appreciate that either. Re: Obama Bashing in Bavaria and Paris
Fascinating.
This issue is none of our business. Yet the current administration apparently believes it is appropriate to make controversial and mischievous pronouncements on a topic that is a serious one; this may produce real problems, but NOTHING is more important than political correctness. It is politically correct to assume that Turkey is European and must be in the EU - and oh boy, is this administration PC! Obama loves to apologize for others. Now he can apologize for his own gaffe to the Germans, the French and everyone else.

Re: Obama Bashing in Bavaria and Paris
I think that was the joke Mal was making in his reply...i.e if we can lecture them on taking Turkey, they can try do the same to us.
Its not our place, like you said, and the policy of putting Turkey into the EU is something i disagree with completely. |

No no, it fits better over there, see if they do try squeeze Turkey into the frying pan of Europe , sorry i mean, "not to melting" pot/bowl, at least they'll have Greece at the bottom of it to lube it in...like a freaking cavity search.

Re: Obama Bashing in Bavaria and Paris
He is correct, Turkeys future is indeed in europe.
But not yet, until the cultural war in Turkey is resolved and Turkeys goes by our ways it has no future in the EU. Apart from that issue, Turkey is a welcome member. It already plays in our football champions league.

Re: Obama Bashing in Bavaria and Paris
Yup, you are right, it is indeed, a balancing act. They do indeed have one fit in Europe and one in the ME....it is a problem.
But with the problems that Europe have with muslim extremism and the Turk's problems with the PK's, it gives a very easy entry for terrorists into mainstream Europe unfortunately. And then the EU's policy towards Kuwait would have to change some too. |
