That would be as logical as the statement from the Israeli PM's spokesman – "We made every possible effort to avoid this incident." Because the one tiny thing they forgot to do to avoid this incident was not send in armed militia from helicopters in the middle of the night and shoot people. I must be a natural at this sort of technique because I often go all day without climbing off a helicopter and shooting people, and I'm not even making every possible effort. Politicians and commentators worldwide repeat a version of this line. They're aware a nation has sent its militia to confront people carrying provisions for the desperate, in the process shooting several of them dead, and yet they angrily blame the dead ones. One typical headline yesterday read "Activists got what they wanted – confrontation." It's an attitude so deranged it deserves to be registered as a psychosis, something like "Reverse Slaughter Victim Confusion Syndrome".

Call me a traditionalist but attacking shipping in international waters would appear to be piracy. Certainly, what the Israeli Navy did simply seems like a more high-tech version.

I suspect that some of the ships didn't resist because they realised that the Israelis would shoot them in 'self-defence'.

What I noticed is that a lot of them seem to be the same guy. He seems to be in pictures 1, possibly 3, 4, 7, 8. Actually, the soldier in 2 and 7 looks identical too.

he was at a protest, and was hit by a tear gas cannister, it sux and an awful price to pay for being politically active, but this the ME, ready, it was a protest...you know? How many of these get out of hand....? beats me, many I figure.


Maybe they should have rappelled some commandos in, Marmara style, they could have shot him on the face and he would not be suffering.......for god sakes dude, get a grip.

Well, I guess one has to have perspective when one chooses to ignore all of the peace activists Israel has injured or killed over the years. Failing that, I guess one would have no "perspective."

perspective is a choice of focus really, does one choose to focus donw into the micio, or does one take both the big and small on the way to formulating an opinion, an eduated opinion.

you act or have posted the last several times as if this all took place in a vacuum, because imho, the big picture is not conveniently supportive of what went on here.

Its something I have seen for years most especially coverage of Israel, when the details are not fitting, broach the 'big picture' when the big picture doesn't fit, drill down to details. The media has done it for decades. Its dishonest and doesn't really educate the observer at all, thats why there are preconceived notions taken as fact or misunderstandings working for and against both sides, which obscure the issue.
