Abbas opposed lifting the Gaza naval blockade

    As does Egypt.

I'm pro Israel, so my views on this are going to be fairly obvious.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is opposed to lifting the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip because this would bolster Hamas, according to what he told United States President Barack Obama during their meeting at the White House Wednesday. Egypt also supports this position.

oops I just posted this on the Israelis board ships gaza thread..anyway.......thx.

one could make the case this is a self aggrandizing comment, since he lost to hamas. But in the end, if someone is going to be seen as the face of 'Palestine' or a quasi leader of the Pal. overall, better him than Haniyeh.

Yeah, but in a democracy the majority usually don't go and shoot members of the opposition in the streets like dogs, or throw people off of roof tops.

Not to mention, most democratically elected parties don't have rocket squads that fire thousands of rockets into neighboring countries...

The reason for the blockade is because the Hamas party was elected. Is it not? And this is a blockade by both Egypt and Israel.

I see, you're unable to answer the question. Forgive me, for some reason I thought you were here for discussion.
