Only the CBC is government owned, and I wouldn't say they are Canada's main media - certainly not in terms of # of people who watch. Many more people watch the other options. Thats why they have to be subsidized with a billion $ a year.
To say they are not biased or politically motivated is ridiculous. The are for the most part quite subtle about it, but they are consistently coming from a libby/left perspective.

Fox News doesn't "communicate News!"
Fox News "makes the news," or "spin the news!"
And they do so with such a self-righteous attitude, that some people with not too much of a critical sense actually believe them!
I agree. . .they are entertaining (at least some of the time!), but "NEWS?" They are not!

Actually no. The exposure I had to NPR was usually informative and not biased, although some programs were biased (depending on the guests), there was enough variety to say that, on average, they were pretty balanced.
But I must say that I am not a fervent NPR follower, because I only listen to it when I am in my car.
I don't think ANY "main stream" media is as biased as Fox. Although I recognised that MSNBC is also biased (toward the Left, obviously), but at least they make an effort to state facts, and to make a correction when they make mistakes!

You view it differently? How so? Why do libby/lefties always try to deny where they are coming from?
Do you really think that Peter Mansbridge is not a liberal?
Can you name one CBC newsman that was an obvious conservative as the rest have been obvious liberals?
I don't have a problem with the CBC's bias except for the fact that I am forced to pay for it.
All media has a bias. Every story can be reported on from different prespectives.
The libby/lefts outrage at conservative media is understandable. They have dominated the territory for many years and consider it theirs. They consider any competition to be "wrong" and "unfair", and, of course, false and misleading.
