    Poland - a new european powerhouse ?

There is more that happens in Europe these days than broadsides fired between allegedly lazy Greeks and allegedly stingy Germans. For example a soccer european championship hosted by a country that happens to be one of Europes most amazing economic and political success stories in recent years, Poland ( biggest economic growth on the continent ? ). And yes, the polish governement explicitly wishes to join the Euro. And yes, relations with neighbour Germany are excellent. German-polish reconsiliation and reapproachment is a major european development and of no less political significance than reconsiliation of the old foes Germany and France a couple of decades ago, it just gets too little attention in the english speaking press. Just like the eastern EU members in general :

Hmm. Another source of funds for bailing out the Greeks besides Germany?

I don't think that it's the Greek people being lazy. It's more likely that their incompetent government listened and believed the Goldman Sachs salesman. Now they are paying for it.

How can you tell a banker is lying? His lips are moving!
If a man were behind four months on his mortgage and was talking to you about his plans to build an addition on his home you would think him daft and delusional. But in Washington, ignoring a current crisis to discuss grand dreams is called “boldness” and “vision.”

Eh, for EU colonial master Germany it was very successful story.
Germans own at least half of Poland, this time without a war.

Poland...Another European nation that was supposed to benefit from Reagan's vision of global Democracy and Capitalism that we dumped in favor of cheap labor.

This is completely wrong. Poland lied much more eastern and big parts of Poland have been assigned to Russia in the talks of the allieds.
