I guess some people don't object to lying under oath as long as it's the GOPers doing it.

Had it been handled right to begin with this would be a non issue and the lawyers would still be gone. It's the arrogance that is under attack here, nothing else.

That's a good point. The Bush administration, and their defenders, are so arrogant that they believe that nobody should ask any questions about the firing of these attorneys.

Seriously. I want the attorneys to have been having sex with one of Bush's daughters or something.

I think that might be the case, huh? Clinton's lie is the worse thing that has happened to our country. But Libby's, Bush's and Gonzales's lies are no big deal.

At the time, President Clinton presented the move as something perfectly ordinary: "All those people are routinely replaced," he told reporters, "and I have not done anything differently." In fact, the dismissals were unprecedented: Previous Presidents, including Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter, had both retained holdovers from the previous Administration and only replaced them gradually as their tenures expired. This allowed continuity of leadership within the U.S. Attorney offices during the transition.

It's not the same thing as what's normally done (excluding klinton and any president who followed klinton's precedent) and what's normally done when a new Pres takes office is to start the process of asking the US attorneys for their resignations and/or firing them.

This is such a effing waste of time about nothing. The President has the right to fire any US attorney whenever he feels like it.

As much as I dislike Bush, I wish he would go on tv and say the following to all dems and the liberal media:

One last comment. The amount of media attention this story about nothing has received is an excellent example of liberal media bias in action.

Of course. When a patriotic and God fearing Repulican mis-speaks the truth, it is being done with the best interests of the nation in mind.

When terrorist loving godless Democrat lies, it is being done to further the agenda of the vast left wing conspiracy - the complete and utter destruction of the US.

I thought everyone knew this?

So effing what!? It's different than normal BUT NO LAWS WERE BROKEN! Presidents are allowed to fire US attorneys AT WILL.

Bush, Gonzales and any other Republican should reply to dems request for subpoenas on this non-issue with the following answer:

I know I would...

Sorry, you're right, but Matt and the other Repubs keep bringing him up, in the Libby thread, in the Hillary thread, in every thread possible. But you are absolutely right, it's over.

So now you think it is appropriate to take a page from the handbook of people you disagree with? What will be next? They are wrong, they just can't really defend Bush so they bash anything else they can in the effort to appear to be defending Bush and hope people will rise to the bait. Why play the game. Frankly if you are going to refer to a Dem President as a source of something that was done right he isn't the one to use anyway.

Oh, I have a tremendous problem with lying under oath, regardless of political affiliation.

Please point out the "lie"...

Re: US Attorney firings (merged)

There's a fine line between lying and misleading. Both are wrong to do.
