And when students hit high school and can barely read or write, we should put them in advanced classes?

I really, really wish it worked that way considering my son is advanced. In Texas, we have a sizable population who can't even speak English. It's important to teach these illegal immigrants English before my son gets the opportunity to learn Japanese. Standardized testing is what has dumbed down education, IMO.

I don't wany any governmental actor making the decision. I'm more interested in reforming the school funding system so poor areas with no tax base don't get starved of funds.
