Fox News is known as a talking piece for the White House. Must be true.

Surely you recognize that your argument is crap.

Do you not find it interesting that Tony Snow went from Fox to the White House, yet his paycheck is still signed by Rupert Murdoch?

What are they known for? I know them for exactly what my citations suggest. An organization that fights for civil liberties regardless of the political views, religious beliefs, or popularity of the people whose rights are threatened.

Just out of curiosity - if the picture in question was of Supreme Ayatollah Khamenei, and featured quotes from the Koran, how would y'all feel about it?

If the majority of my city practiced Islam, I wouldn't say a word about it.

I'd oppose it then... not because I'm against Islam but because Khomeini was an evil dictator, not an important figure upon which the religion of Islam was centered as Jesus is to CHristianity. I wouldn't oppose a picture of Muhammad like that (but I hear they can't show his image...)

See, and I'd say it's because the majority doesn't practice Christianity that you SHOULD say something about it.

America is supposed to be a land of inclusion. Hanging a picture of Jesus with Biblical quotes is a direct exclusion of anyone who doesn't practice those sects of Christianity that find that acceptable.

@ItalianIce: I couldn't think of a good example offhand; I know that images of Muhammed are forbidden, but I wasn't sure who'd be appropriate. Oh, and Ali Khamenei is still alive.

I tend to be respectful of others religions and also of the majority's belief. Living in SE Louisiana all my life, I'm usually outnumbered by the Catholics. Though I don't share most of their beliefs, I wouldn't be bothered if they hung a picture of the Pope in a public building. And believe me, I look at the Pope as an ordinary man, just like the rest of us!

And you know how I am about religious beliefs.

The problem I see is that there is a place for religion, and a place where it doesn't belong. The courthouse is supposed to be for justice, and Justice is supposed to be blind, not just asking if one fits into the majority.

Just like I would oppose a minority religious display, or an anti-religious display, this religious display has no place in the court.

Re: ACLU strikes my town

But does the display do any harm? Does it violate anyone's rights?

Yes.

It implies partiality on the part of the courts. It produces a statement that one religion is more acceptable than the others.

And, even if it didn't, it's still not acceptable.

Just playing devil's advocate, but where in the Constitution that says that it is wrong.
