OCEAN CITY -- A 53-year-old city man allegedly threw a real kitchen knife in the direction of trick-or-treating children on his porch on Halloween as a prank, a report in the Press of Atlantic City said.
The costumed children knocked on the door of Michael Mandzuick at 7:44 p.m. on Saturday, according to the report. Noticing one child yielding a fake, rubber weapon dressed as "Friday the 13th" character Jason, Mandzuick allegedly said the child's toy was not a real knife and would show him a real one, the report said.
Then, according to the newspaper, Mandzuick, who police said was intoxicated, went inside the house and took a carving knife from his kitchen. The resident came back to the porch and hurled the kitchen utensil in the direction of the children, sticking into the wooden deck a few feet away, the report said.
Parents dialed 911, and police arrested Mandzuick, charging him with disorderly conduct, unlawful possession of a weapon and hindering apprehension, the report said.
