Is Sara Palin a Tax Cheat?
You pay your taxes. I pay my taxes. Does John McCain's pick for a running mate pay all of hers? Does it bother you that not only that Sara Palin use taxpayer funds for her family's personal use, but then doesn't even pay the income tax she owes on it? It sure does me. What say you?
Questions Linger About Palin Taxes Now that tax attorneys have had a chance to review Gov. Sarah Palin’s tax returns, which were released late last week, a new round of questions are being raised on tax-related websites. One big issue that tax attorneys are pointing to is the fact that the Palins did not report as income the $43,490 that the state gave the family to cover travel expenses for Mr. Palin and the Palin children. Had the Palins reported these payments as income, the couple would have had to pay taxes on it. These tax attorneys note that neither Mr. Palin nor the children were employees of the state. Nor were they traveling on behalf of the state. There was some discussion that perhaps some portion of Mr. Palin’s travel expenses might be excludable as income if there was a bona-fide business reason for his presence and if he assisted Mrs. Palin in her official duties. Re: Is Sara Palin a Tax Cheat?
Maybe she gave herself a tax cut?
As much as my partisan self would like to see this blown up into a huge scandal, my rational self tells me it's just small potatoes. In a state where the Senator forgets to report that he received several hundred thousand dollars worth of home remodeling as a gift, forgetting to declare taxes on expenses claimed for taking your kids to see their father race snowmobiles is just a drop in the bucket. I'd think that taking the kids to watch their father race and charging it to the state would create an outcry in Alaska, but apparently that's been accepted by the public there, so "forgetting" to pay taxes on the income would be a small issue.

Re: Is Sara Palin a Tax Cheat?
Another disadvantage to being 2 months old to the national scene...
And not being sufficiently vetted. Tax returns are a standard point of contention and all the other candidates got that out of the way a long time ago.

Re: Is Sara Palin a Tax Cheat?
And McCain screwed around with his mistress Cindy while he was still married to his disabled wife!!!
(Since we are firing off random, unrelated attacks)

Come up with something meaningful when attacking a candidate or go elsewhere...
