McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd (merger)
ahoy mateys!
i don't know if all of ye saw this...but it made me sorta cringe, its hard to watch; YouTube - Lady: "Obama is and ARAB!" McCain: "no mam, sit down" i tip me sailor's cap to the mighty mccain, this bit reminded me 'o why i always felt inclined like this matey. it does suggest that he be in a tough spot. his campaign folk have been stirrin' the pot 'o hate and intolerance, and this be whar it lands him. look at some 'o the supporters 'o his that he now has to disagree with, to the point whar he is booed down by his own core constituents. i feel badly for mr. mccain....perhaps he also, like mrs. palin, be a victim 'o his handlers. aye. -MeadHallPirate ps - i just saw the video i linked...it was cut off a bit early. as mccain goes on to defend obama's virtues as a family man and an american, he gets booed down by the crowd. aye. McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd
McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd - Yahoo! News
A sense of grievance spilling into rage has gripped some GOP events this week as McCain supporters see his presidential campaign lag against Obama. Some in the audience are making it personal, against the Democrat. Shouts of "traitor," "terrorist," "treason," "liar," and even "off with his head" have rung from the crowd at McCain and Sarah Palin rallies, and gone unchallenged by them. On Friday, McCain rejected the bait. "I don't trust Obama," a woman said. "I have read about him. He's an Arab." McCain shook his head in disagreement, and said: "No, ma'am. He's a decent, family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with (him) on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign is all about." What the hell is this country comming to, I don't care if you're a Rep, Dem ,Ind or whatever. This kind of BS needs to go. At least McCain tried to calm them down some. What we have here are the kids of the Baby Boomers that were never taught manners or self respect. |

Re: Well done mr. mccain!
I think maybe the old, decent John McCain saw how nasty all this has gotten in his name, and it bothered him that he was just like Bush in 2000.
Either that, or he finally figured out that his people were setting him up for a fall and didn't want to go out looking like a prick.

Anyway, JSM told his frothy audience to cut the violent attitude and he received boos for it. He bombed with the mod. He was clearly uncomfortable with the mob mentality and he had some correcting words that were a buzzkill to the frothy haters.

Re: Well done mr. mccain!
McCain tells a man who says he is afraid of Obama that he is a good, decent family man and tells a woman who says Obama is an Arab that he isn't.
Kudos, kudos, kudos to McCain for being presidential and dignified. |

McCain RELUCTANTLY set this crazy ass woman straight. It seemed to pain him to have to tell her the truth. But here's the thing about it though. "He's a decent family man..." That implies that Arab's AREN'T decent family men, or decent people in general. Bottom line...anyway you shake this the GOP comes out with poop on their face. And it STINKS!

Re: McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd
I'm proud of McCain for doing the right thing here. I hope he will continue this track so that those who agree with his ideas will feel they can vote for him. I still believe Obama's ideas are better, but there is room for disagreement in this complex world.

Re: McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd
Well whataya expect? Basically, the USA is just realizing that we're bankrupt, the comfortable lives we've led for several decades are probably gone, and we've gotten this way because of the Republicans and pretty much nothing else. They've spent the last eight years spinning lies and making excuses and now some of them (not many but a few) are actually waking up to the fact that not everybody with a flag lapel pin who puts his hand over his heart when the anthem plays is a true blue honest citizen and that sometimes even people who go to Church every Sunday are capable of lying. Any really honest Republican must feel the world is ending and you'd almost feel sorry for them until you remember they're the ones that caused it in the first place, and you see their first reaction is still the GOP tried and true, hatred and bigotry.
They didn't have to elect his ass, TWICE. And even if they did, they didn't have to then give him a Congress of the most pevertedly subservient toadys that ever licked the cowboy boots of the President who's only saving grace was that his stupidity spared us from his evil. And then McCain, after whipping up the crowd, tries to gain points by saying "now, now". Senile old fart, but still tricky enough to try this ploy. Y'know Obama is right again, the Republicans really must think we're stupid. |

This is the McCain I used to love, and the one who has disappeared in the race... well done John.
