Great point about the used. My Sig is factory refurbished and thus a great deal. Not wild about Rugers but they are a good price/quality option. That Sig is just smooth as silk, I love it.
I wasn't ever wild about Rugers either but the SP101 Dammitboy is speaking of really is a nice gun and well worth the $525 I paid for mine new.

If that's true, I want a .45. If not, though (probably the case), I suppose I'll have to go the shotgun route. Funny, I can buy something that will obliterate anything in its path, but I can't do anything accurately.

So other than that goddamn monstrosity that was posted (and there is no way that double barrel thing is anywhere near legal), what kind of shotgun would you suggest? Unless, of course, that loophole is valid.

If you state law requires you to be a minimum age to own a handgun, I doubt you’d be allowed to own one regardless of how you came into possession of it.

As far as shotguns go, it’s hard to go wrong with any name-brand. The previously mentioned Mossberg 500 is a good value. I’ve hunted with both the Remington 870 and 1100, and never had a problem with either. I’ve always been fond of the Ithaca 37’s, though I haven’t owned any. All three of those pumps (500, 870, and 37; the 1100 is semi-automatic) have been fielded by the US military at some point.

As far as that pump goes, I can’t see why it would be illegal. The barrels are plenty long enough, and it isn’t automatic or anything. It looks cumbersome as hell though.

The link I provided showed the msrp for a ruger SP101 as $485.00 - don't know why the link is broken. (edit: link fixed)

If you've got money to burn and don't care, more power to ya. Me, I like a good bargain.

I've bought used SP101's for $250.00 and new in the box at gun shows for $350.00 and that included taxes.

I prefer dealing with F.I.T.S. because they're local and have a great reputation, even if it means spending a little extra money. But Rugers actual MSRP is $572.

I'm generally cheap....my husband use to complain because I hated spending money, especially on myself.

Actually, I just found out that I can get a handgun. According to state law, you can even get one if you're under 18. Parents just need to consent and provide supervision during use.

I don't know where the 21 thing came out. NC doesn't have any real age restrictions, either.

OK, I just looked it up. You're right; NC has pretty lax age restrictions. It appears federal firearms dealers are prohibited by federal law from selling handguns to anyone under 21, but state law only prohibits possession of a handgun to anyone under 18; so I guess you can have a handgun given to you.

Quote:
North Carolina law does not currently address specific age requirements for the purchase of weapons. Rather, they look to the federal standards for such restrictions. Under federal law, at 18 U.S.C. 1922(b)(1), federally licensed gun dealers are prohibited from selling handguns to persons under the age of 21. Further, all other purchasers of shotguns and rifles are required to be at least 18 years old.

North Carolina General Statute 14-269.7 provides that it is a misdemeanor for any person under the age of 18 to possess or carry a handgun. A handgun is defined as a firearm that has a short stock and is designed to be fired by the use of a single hand, or any combination of parts from which such a firearm can be assembled. The punishment for this misdemeanor is imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of up to $500.00, or both.
NC Firearms Law

Just make sure it isn't carried on educational property. Being caught would be a felony.

I found that out. I'm going to stay in a dorm, so no gun for me. You can in South Carolina, though. They only recently made it illegal here to have a gun on a college campus, from what I understand. I get the reasoning. Virginia Tech.

But if someone had been packing in that classroom, I honestly think he would've been stopped earlier.

Lawful gun owners are always forced to play by the rules that the criminals have no intention of following.

I don't think every state should have Florida's gun laws (murder is almost legal there), but we should get damn close.

Denmark is definitely not the place to live if you like good bargains, since everyng costs around 3 times more than elsewhere.

I have my eyes on this used 8 shot 12 gauge pump gun, but the greedy cunt selling it wants around $800 for it, when you can get them used in the U.S for only 250. Problem is its the only one of its kind for sale in Denmark, but in Germany you can get them used for 229€.
