Yeah, I think there are several more automatic shotguns out now as well. They may be largely impractical at this point, but the concept of an automatic shotgun is just cool.
Except for that barrel melting thing.

Ive tried the Jackhammer in a game called Project IGI (which is supposed to be very realistic) and it is extremely fast.
Im not knocking this video game. I just want to point out that clicking on a mouse to make it fire is much different than actually shooting one. I am not sure you would say the same thing after after emptying a 10rd clip of 00Buck in 3in Magnum.
Then again I might be wrong. Being an avid shotgunner, more of the sporting variations though. I would probably have a huge smile on my face after letting loose with it. But regardless of it being gas operated, recoil with a contraption like the Jackhammer would be vicious.

I bet my trap shooting handicap would need to be adjusted.

I suppose you could walk over to the pile of clay pigeons on the ground and plaster them.....sort of pre emptive strike as it were

I don't own a gun myself, but if I were to do so I then a blackpowder gun of some sort would appeal most, a colt navy ( .36 calibre ? ) would likely be my first choice

That is the long running joke around any shotgun range. There are days when it would be much easier to do that.

Fair enough, which is another reason I find shooting an interesting hobby. The varied niche market interest in one particular type.
I can just see the NRA latest ad campaign. Shooting...something for everybody.
For me, with all the firearms I own, with each one, I bought it with a specific purpose in mind. Except a couple of high end shotguns because those are my favorite.
Ultimately to me, firearms are tools. They have thier capabilities and shouldnt be expected to operate beyond that.
One wouldnt want to drive a screw with a hammer right?

Unless you were in a real hurry

I think there are two things about blackpowder that appeal to me. Firstly there's an element of that whole 'romance of a bygone age ' about it. Secondly it just looks like immense fun to me. I can remember the first time I fired a replica musket: click, fizz ( very offputting right next to your cheek I can tell you ) BANG, COUGH, COUGH, COUGH.

"Did I hit the target ?"
pregnant pause
" weeeell....you got it at the same end of the range as the target, that's good for a beginner"

No worries at all. It is a good joke. The other being that those clay pigeons taste better with ingredients XYZ and cooked a certain way.
Ultimately think of trap shooting, as similar to golf in some of the culture that surrounds the people who do it often. The methods are different, obviously.

Ultimately it is hanging around with 4 friends who share similar interests. For me getting into trap was to better myself at hunting. But it has taken on its own hobby for me. I do it quite often and have a good amount of time, money and effort into it as a form of recreation.

There is this that appeal to most. I have several copies of military surplus rifles from WWII and before. I would like to own an actual Luger someday among many other collectable firearms.

While I am not a fan of modern muzzleloaders myself, what modern technology has done to the "musket" is quite impressive.

Ultimatly know this about me. Where I live, guns are as much more of a way of life than cell/mobile phones are.

Re: Whats your favorite firearm?

I'd love to see your shoulders after a bout with a fully-automatic shotgun.

RE: Electronic guns. I'll stick with the purely mechanical variety, as the EMP from a not-so-near nuclear device could (will?) render them unuseable. Sort of the same theory as having an old points-and-condenser ignition system car stashed somewhere. Computer controls are nice, but worthless if they have been taken out.

Its a fully auto 40mm grenade launcher.

practical rate of fire of 60 rounds per minute (rapid) and 40 rounds per minute (sustained).

Technically speaking, “muskets” and flintlock rifles really haven’t changed much at all in the last century or two. The inline muzzleloader rifles that are hard to distinguish from typical modern rifles are percussion cap rifles; with the exception of CVA’s Electra ARC, which uses electronic ignition. PA’s muzzleloader season is limited to flintlocks. It’s a fun season, but not particularly productive. The flintlocks add a whole new dimension to the hunt. You’re never quite sure if the gun is going to go bang in that second after you pull the trigger. Oil on the striker plate (such as oil from your fingers) can keep the flint from sparking, and wet frizzen powder looks pretty much the same as dry powder, and it picks up moisture rather easily. Needless to say, everyone has a story or two about drawing a good bead on game, pulling the trigger, and hearing click, pulling the hammer back again, pulling the trigger and again hearing click. They do that varying numbers of times as the game walks on by looking at them stupidly. You can almost hear a chuckle.

I dont think they need cops in the event of a nuclear war anyway. What kinda service weapons are you issued with?
