Cool Them Crooked Vultures

New so-called "super group": Them Crooked Vultures.

Dave Grohl
Josh Homme
John Paul Jones

No album out yet, but tour dates are set. I watched a few promo clips on youtube, WOW... so far, I like what I hear. Sounds like Led Zep meets QOTSA.

Dave Grohl is one of the best frontmen on the planet right now...

I agree. I also like that his ego isn't so big that he can't step back from that frontman position once in a while. He's back to playing drums on this project.

Re: Them Crooked Vultures

Dave Grohl's entire music career has been phenomenal. Everything the guy touches turns to gold..

Yeah, but these contrived 'supergroups' (Asia,etc...), or at least, heavily promoted 'side projects (Temple of the Dog), even the more interesting ones (Oysterhead), usually end up gargling donkey balls in a burro show.

IOW, a confuzzled mess, at best.

Animal Logic, at least, had two good songs, though.

Deborah Holland is with a more "folksy" group now called The Refugees with Wendy Waldman (a good friend of mine) and Cindy Bullens. They're pretty good; great harmonies...

I really liked her w/Animal Logic. Good to see she found work after they didn't tour to support their second album.

Seriously, he's like King Fucking Midas. I pretty much like everything Homme does as well. I haven't been folowing what John Paul Jones has been up to... last I heard (many years ago), I think he was composing classical music.

That's his background, but for several years in the 1990's, he was producing (baaarf....) Diamanda Galas.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! You know how I feel about Mr. Homme.

I'll be looking for this, because I love Grohl as well. Thanks!

I saw them at Leeds Festival where they were supurb. Played a mix of covers and one or two of there own songs; sounded good enough...
