Re: Loggins & Messina...
Christ they're so....old.
Y'know, you REALLY have to feel sorry for these guys. They were caught in the cusp of the major change in music publishing so that they've lost all the money they made when concerts were done just to sell records and now have to rely on those records to make them stay popular at concerts. Then again, they make more than my life's income with one chord, GET OFF THE STAGE GRAMPA, GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE

Re: Loggins & Messina...
Years ago, I was a bellman at the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, when Loggins came to stay.
He's a man with, um, 'odd' tastes in certain things.

They were enormously popular back in their heyday. Judging by the sold-out show I went to the other night, they’re still popular now. They’re doing what they love to do, and what they’re good at. I don’t know what you’re talking about with regards to losing money and publishing. They never relinquished their publishing rights. Their popularity is based on whatever it is; records, television appearances; whatever. It doesn’t matter what generates that popularity. As for them being old, well, yeah. They’re both in their 60’s. You can look at that as them being past their prime, or you can look at it as they’ve sustained their career where many younger artists have been unable to. The music business is fickle. Whoever's selling concert tickets is going to get onstage. I've lost count of the number of shows I've been to where the house has been only 2/3 full, and the headlining act was, supposedly, "the next great thing". And, as for them “getting off the stage”, they still do what they do very, very well. They can stay put, as far as I’m concerned…
