Re: Bon Jovi--hosts party for Obama at $30,800 per plate!

Wow, you really have issues don't you. This is a shit thread, it makes no point, and you know it. Candidates have fundraisers all the time. You label Obama as an elitist, and I say whatever floats your boat. But until you have actual hard evidence that supports your claims of liberal media and 'elitism' no one but other partisan fuckheads will listen to you.

And the fundraisering apparently extends to the Girl Scouts too.

Quote:
Michelle Walsh wanted to teach her 2nd-grade Girl Scout troop about the presidential election.

What the Naperville mother got was a lesson about the rough-and-tumble world of political finances.

Walsh said she called both campaigns and asked for free trinkets she could give the 7-year-olds to help them learn. If they did well, she explained, each Scout would earn her "Ms. President" patch. The tchotchkes would provide added incentive.

A representative for John McCain responded immediately, sending Walsh a box filled with stickers and signs.

The Barack Obama camp wasn't quite so generous, Walsh said.

The troop leader said she called Obama's Chicago campaign headquarters and explained why she needed the curios. Walsh said she was directed to Obama's Web site—where she could buy all the buttons and posters she wanted.

On the Web, a packet of 50 stickers that say "Obama '08" goes for $5; a yard sign is $8. "Got Hope?" bumper stickers are $3 each, or two for $5.

Walsh found the prices a bit exorbitant her small group.

She said she asked Obama's campaign worker again if she could get a few items for free. She pointed out that McCain's camp had agreed to send a box and, well, her 12-member Scout troop runs on a very small budget.

Walsh said the woman at Obama's headquarters put her on hold. After a few minutes, she returned with the same answer. The woman told her that she sympathized, but the Obama campaign needs every penny it can get, Walsh said.

Re: Bon Jovi--hosts party for Obama at $30,800 per plate!

The Obama campaign is specifically directing funds not towards stuff like buttons, stickers etc.

1) Another example of how people on the right just love talking about celebrities.

2) Obama is teaching the and the girl scout that they shouldn't expect handouts in life. It appears that McCain is a welfare enabler.

I guess the surprise here is: Barack Obama has been desperately trying to lose his "elitist" title, & to look to be more of a down home guy trying to relate with the average working American, over kitchen table issues!

I really dont' know how many Americans could afford a $30,800 per plate dinner?

Just to inform you Barack Obama. Most of us are dealing with $4.00 gasoline which has brought on a rotten economy, brought on by a do-nothing democrat lead senate & congress--who actually turn off the micro-phones when someone wants to bring debate to the floor, for off-shore drilling for new sources of oil & natural gas.

So our kitchen tables consist of a lot of cut out coupons & food bought from Walmart--(a corporation, in which you despise,) and a place where we can also get tire pressure gauges cheaper!

It's unbelieveable to me, with the war chest that Barack Obama already has in campaign funds that he would head over to this "elitist" party! Wonder what he had to say about us folks at the Bon Jovi mansion? We're bitter & we're hanging on to our Walmart coupons!
I just hope that you were/are equally critical of the Republican Party when they do similar events. Wasn't it Bush who called the "elite" his "base"?

What is it with you liberals and your hatred for people who have earned their money?

And as you can see while Obama was incorrect that 90% of his MONEY is from people giving under 200 dollars, 90% of his DONORS are people who contribute 200 bucks or less. The man has over a million and a half Americans who have given money to his campaign and those who gave that amount make up a greater percentage of his donation income than McCain or Hillary Clinton when the story was first run. As evidence of the power of Obama's small donor network. 110,000 people combined to contribute 10 million dollars within 24 hours of Sarah Palin's attack speech.

Have you taken a gander at the thread in the Economics Forum, regarding who works more; rich people or poor people?

Without exception, the whiney libs on that thread do, in fact, find fault with people being rich, as evidenced by their desire to see the rich pay at a higher tax rate than the poor, because they "value their dollar less".

So, yeah, it's wrong to be rich.

At least according to the libs in that thread...

This is the last straw. I can't vote for anyone who listens to bon jovi - no matter how much money is involved.

the 800 is actual costs, the rest goes to the campaign.

Why is it that conservatives blast liberals for the things they have nothing to do with, like the post you are blasting? I'm not sure, but based on the postings I've seen, I’m guessing that Oreo is NOT of the liberal persuasion..
