Bon Jovi--hosts party for Obama at $30,800 per plate!

Well, no surprise here, a "rock star" hosts a party for Barack Obama in his mansion, inviting only 100 guests who had to pay $30,800 a plate!

I guess the surprise here is: Barack Obama has been desperately trying to lose his "elitist" title, & to look to be more of a down home guy trying to relate with the average working American, over kitchen table issues!

I really dont' know how many Americans could afford a $30,800 per plate dinner?

Just to inform you Barack Obama. Most of us are dealing with $4.00 gasoline which has brought on a rotten economy, brought on by a do-nothing democrat lead senate & congress--who actually turn off the micro-phones when someone wants to bring debate to the floor, for off-shore drilling for new sources of oil & natural gas.

So our kitchen tables consist of a lot of cut out coupons & food bought from Walmart--(a corporation, in which you despise,) and a place where we can also get tire pressure gauges cheaper!

It's unbelieveable to me, with the war chest that Barack Obama already has in campaign funds that he would head over to this "elitist" party! Wonder what he had to say about us folks at the Bon Jovi mansion? We're bitter & we're hanging on to our Walmart coupons!

Not to ruin your day, but this is how fundraisers of both campaigns work. A Dutch journalist made a documentary about it.

I wonder why it's $30,800 rather than a round $30,000. I won't lose sleep over it, though.

Hate to point this out-but people have done exactly the same as McCain. It called politics and it requires large amounts of money-indeed Obamas campagn has less large donars than McCain's.

I didn't know that. How does one quantify that? Is that individual donations? If so, the FEC site should be able to back that up. However, that wouldn't be the whole story. One would have to quantify bundled donations. Then, one would have to quantify donations made through fundraisers such as this.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I am saying it's a hard claim to make unless one has done a thorough quantification of the funds raised. That would be quite a feat.

Fact Check has a story on this, here's the link.
FactCheck.org: Was Obama correct to say 90% of his money comes from donors giving $50 or less?
And as you can see while Obama was incorrect that 90% of his MONEY is from people giving under 200 dollars, 90% of his DONORS are people who contribute 200 bucks or less. The man has over a million and a half Americans who have given money to his campaign and those who gave that amount make up a greater percentage of his donation income than McCain or Hillary Clinton when the story was first run. As evidence of the power of Obama's small donor network. 110,000 people combined to contribute 10 million dollars within 24 hours of Sarah Palin's attack speech.

As I said, that is not really the whole picture, is it?

Bundled donations and fundaraisers, for a start. Again, I am not saying the claim is correct or not. I am saying the nature of all those contributing money through avenues other than direct donations makes it difficult to make the claim with any certainty.

And McCain has seven houses.

What's your point? Is it wrong to be wealthy?

It's funny you bring up the 7 houses. In fact, it was all over the media. Yet, the Obama networks media did not want to discuss how many homes the Kennedy's or John Kerry owns? In fact, all of McCain's 7 homes do not add up to the value of one of John Kerry's mansions.

Barack Obama continued to hammer away at McCain houses, this while his half-brother lives in a hut in Africa making the equivalent of $12.00 per year.
If he had such a giving nature, as his speeches suggest,-why not help his half-brother?

There is something not right here. Obama has two faces. One in front of his elite crowd, & another when he is in front of average Americans.

Hey, it's your liberal buddies in the democrat party who push the "evil" rich versus poor in this country. They've been doing it for decades--not me.

The point of this thread is: Here is your guy--Obama doing his best to lose the "elistist" image after his comments in San Francisco, regarding comments he made about average Americans in the midwest--"who cling to their guns & religion because they are bitter."

Obama then exhibits the poor judgement to attend this elitist party, at $30,800 per plate, held by a rock star.
