I came across a thread on another forum in which I learned that Germany, Denmark, and a bunch of other countries tightly regulate what first names parents can give their children. I did a little searching and came up with some information:
Among other things, cross-gender names like Devin, Taylor, and Casey are out. Does anyone else think (as I do) that governmental intervention into such a personal matter is way over the line? Of course, if we had similar regs, it would have saved Frank Zappa’s kids from some embarassment.Germans are used to being regulated in many areas of daily life that Americans might find rather repressive. Want to name your baby? Better pick a name that the local Standesamt (office of vital statistics) agrees with. If they don't agree to register the name you picked, you have to appeal the decision. By German law, a child's name has to meet two conditions: (1) it must reflect the sex of the child, and (2) it must not endanger the “well-being of the child.”

It's a free country and people should name their kids whatever they like.
However as a parent you take on the responsibility for whatever emotional scars might result.
I have to hand it to African Americans for coming up with the most creative first names collectively.

Well, it's two edged sword.
Basically, I think those rules make sense. But on the other hand is is basically the job of the parents to come up with a name for their child.
But as far as I know the regulation on this is not very restrictive. If you choose some cross-gender name, then you can add a second one, like "Taylor Frank" for example, at least for the files.

Well unless you were curretly doing it (laughing at the pretty boy) at the time it would be "so did i".

I suppose it's possible.
What I was trying to say was I am laughing my ass off, the way the other asshole was laughing his ass off. So, I suppose I should have written "so am I". But then "so do I" is tempting too, because it could mean "I do lmao the way the other fucker did lmao". I got that far and got stuck.

I don't think the government should regulate names.
But I do think that there should be a roaming Name-Fairy who stalks parents who give their kids stupid names and beats them with a clue-by-four.
First they came for the mimes, and I did not speak out, because I was a mime.
