I really have no respect for posts that split up multiple quotes

I'm not sure if anybody feels this way, but when you split up posts into multiple points, it's really annoying. It says to me that you are unable to distinguish between multiple arguments and comprise them in to one complete thought. Many times multiple points tie in to each other, but they lose some of their meaning when you split them up and try to argue point by point.

So please, for the love of humanity, stop doing multiple quotes (unless it's from two different posters).

It is?

But sometimes there are multiple directions a discussion can go because the points made are varied and/or contradictory.

I don't think they lose their meaning, but I can see how it would be annoying.

I'll think about it.

p.s. I find people that quote entire 5,000 word posts to be even worse.

I fucking hate it too. Parsing a post like that can make it very difficult to carry on a discussion. In fact, I'm pretty sure that some posters do it on purpose, just to give the appearance that they are "winning" an argument. The person who's post is being disected tends to just give up after a while. Does anyone else ever get that feeling?

I know I created the topic and obviously agree, but this is what I'm talking about. Most of the time I don't even read the post if they have decided to split it up.

I prefer the "multi/mini-quote" method to the "quoting an entire short story" method.

I agree sometimes it's done in excess, but other times, for a more direct counter-argument it helps to address your opponents arguments point by point.

I dont read posts that have split up quotes. If people cant formulate a coherent paragraph, Im not interested.
