The guys I am buying it from mailed it out to me to ensure the fit is right. All they will have to do is adjust the sleeve length, and then sew on the insignia that I ordered. All told, including insignia, this is gonna run me $570. All for a fucking hobby where I run around in the woods and play war with other grown men. I must be fucking crazy.

Next come the $525 boots....

It is a reproduction. An original officer tunic would be way more expensive. The company I am getting this tunic from has many originals that they study before putting their reproduction pattern into production. There are other companies out there who do it cheaper, but these are as close to the originals one can get.

From what I know of Civil War reenacting the uniforms are pretty plentiful, cheap, and the patterns are out there for the average Joe to get ahold of. Though, as is expected, the higher quality uniform you get (more realistic) the more money it will cost.

Honestly can't say I know much about Rev War reenacting, other than that it does exist.

I know a guy who does Roman reenacting and that, IMO, is probably the most expensive when it comes down to basic kit.

Its amazing. I am trying to be more thrifty, and have hd a small degree of success at watching the budget. If an expense can be attributed to a hobby (mine is cooking BTW) the budget thingy no longer applies - hobby expenses are not allowed on the books. It can be dangerous.

Oh well, you only go around once - enjoy your re-enactments.
