Why do my streaming videos sometimes freeze and then go again, and then freeze again, and sometimes keep on freezing.
I thought it was something to do with buffering and not having enough RAM in my old computer but my new comp does it too, and it has an Intel I7 with 9 gb of sdr 3 (sp?) RAM,
Is there any way to stop it? I was hoping to cancel my cable and just watch the occasional show on the computer, but this is too annoying.
And yes, I am still running Vista, I have to backup some important things to sticks in case the backup drive doesn't work either and I just don't have any right now
Pray to the robot gods.
First they came for the mimes, and I did not speak out, because I was a mime.
There are any number of possible explanations for this behavior (including shitty video quality or an unreliable server on which the video is hosted). The best thing to do is start eliminating possibilities.
I would start by right-clicking the streaming application and going to settings. There should be an option for how much memory/space you allow the site to use on your machine. If that is set low, you won't see good streaming video quality even with your unnecessarily large amount of memory.
If that's not the issue, it could be a bandwidth problem or a network bottleneck between the server and your home computer.
"Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases."
-Thomas Jefferson
My guess would be connection issues, probably latency.
Or your not throwing enough logs on the fire.

But which pantheon
The Norse robot gods have difficulties since you have to do RAM upgrades with Robot Thor's hammer.
The Sumerian robotic deities require you to flood the machinery periodically, and putting the flaming CD into the drive as a sacrifice to Robot Baal can lead to real problems
Robot Zeus and Apollo are ok, but Robot Aphrodite is just too distracting
Whats your internet speed (Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test) and whats the bitrate of the stream? HD quality requires 8Mbit, SD 2Mbit.
Also, what program is the stream using? Quicktime/realplayer/wmp?
The line to your modem might need to be replaced if the bitrate is low.
