Re: Has marijuana use changed in tha last 40 years?

I'm actually surprised that the law as it stands is like that in Cali. Here in the Empire State up to 25 grams (I believe) is considered a "violation" and basically amounts to a traffic ticket.

After the change, I would only occassionally indulge, just to see if the new weed could replicate the buzz of the old weed, and finally just gave up. The new shit, would actually made me dizzy, which I did not find pleasing. The old weed never did. The new green weed also never made me break out in uncontrollable laughter either, at some silly incidence. And the new weed never let me see a few colors either, or the mild hallucinations I was particularly fond of. There was alot to be said about the sativa grown in the 70's. Glad I was around to experience it.

IMO this is mostly a psychological thing. When I first started smoking at 17-18 (yes, really) I would get all stupid and giggly from smoking the crappiest dirt brown weed. Flash forward five or six years later and I can't replicate that feeling even smoking the best stuff in much larger quantities. But ah well, so it goes, all things are fleeting.

No, i haven't been able to find any weed like that purple home grown we used to get back in the 90s. Had a different flavor, and was from a more strait sativa breed. I could try to cultivate some gonja like that, but that's alot of work; you'd have to grow it outdoor in a garden to grow it right. I mean, I could get a marijuana license here in Oregon, but it's not worth it. Also one the things that's tripped me out, is here in Oregon that we just haven't legalized gonja yet. I mean, if you're a native, you've smoked bowls with cops before. Alot of work though to hammer out the specifics. Which the Legislature of no State has even attempted doing, because that would be considered political suicide for most representatives to do. Seems odd though, because if there was a decent bill though, I think it would pass. Pretty sure Cali's prop will fail though, but that's because they are not taking care of the growers, which makes up a significant portion of the "Yes" voters in Cali.

Well, it is a fact that breeders cross strains to get more THC out of it.
Dutch research showed that the THC percentage of local grown weed has rised from 8-9% average in the '90s to 18-25% now.

Also, lots of chemicals (hormons and stuff) are used to artifically raise the genetical THC level of strains.

Since a couple of years, a lot of breeders are crossing in ruderalis with indica's and sativa's. Those plants flower automatically after some internodes, independant of light regime.

Really amazing what an evolution went on in the pot scene in a couple of decades..

Try some Malawi or Thai crossed strain, or maybe Sour Diesel or Amnesia haze.

Anyone who thinks that weed was more potent in the 70's has no idea what they're talking about. Even schwag these days is more potent than the stuff from the old days.

A "lid" is a regular plastic Glad sandwich baggie stuffed all the way up so that you can barely fit the top flap, or "lid", over the top.

    Hence the term "lid".

It's a unit of volume, not weight.

"Has marijuana use changed in tha last 40 years?"

Nope! You still use either a pipe, roll it, or put it in a bong.

Oh and yes, the marijuana today is significantly more potent than it was in the 60's and 70's

It had to be somewhat wet, otherwise the blocks would just start falling apart before you could even wrap them up.

Compressing it into blocks like that was meant to be temporary during bulk transportation. It wasn't meant to be stored that way for weeks by the reciever of the packages. If people were too fucking lazy to break up the blocks in a timely manner the weed would get ruined by mold and anerobic bacteria.
