I just read this and think it hits the nail right on the head. Frank Miller the comic book artist that gave us 300, sin city and the punisher rants about the Occupy movement and refers to them as

"nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob"

He also states

“Occupy” is nothing short of a clumsy, poorly-expressed attempt at anarchy, to the extent that the “movement” – HAH! Some “movement”, except if the word “bowel” is attached - is anything more than an ugly fashion statement by a bunch of iPhone, iPad wielding spoiled brats who should stop getting in the way of working people and find jobs for themselves

I think Frank Miller is a reactionist who does not know what he is talking about at all. Calling all of the protestors, specifically the Oakland protestors, spoiled brats who need to joing the military shows just how little he actually knows about the vast mix of people who have joined in. I guess he totally missed the coverage about the two vets who were injured by Oakland police. One survived three tours in Iraq without getting injured at all, only to get a severe head injury at the hands of American police merely for exercising his first amendment right. A second Iraq war vet suffered a ruptured spleen after being beaten by police. In essence, they were both severely injured while practicing one of the very freedoms they put their lives on the line to defend.

Some of them are just young people who need a fucking job during an economic recession where jobs are difficult to get. I know a couple of them at Occupy Toledo. To them $300/week is better than nothing.
