"The long run is a misleading guide to current affairs. In the long run we are all dead." - John Maynard Keynes (admits his philosophy is not viable)

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
"Every time something really bad happens, people cry out for safety, and the government answers by taking rights away from good people.” - Penn Jillette amazingly enough, and I agree.
That's not what I said. What I said is that you're talking about the Jews. They were under a different dispensation (basically a contract) than what Christians are. It existed for a specific reason.
In the post right before the one you quoted. So where in the New Testament is the scathing denunciation of polygamy, I must have missed it

EXCEPT, Leviticus is in the Old Testament, and that's the part that people conveniently refer to when it comes to discussing homosexuality. This is exactly what I mean when I talk about the hypocrisy of The Bible, and people who follow it. If you're going to throw out the Old Testamemt then fine, but you then can't turn around and use it make an argument against the morality of homosexuality, or evolution etc.
Wrong-o. Ain't nothing blessed about homosexuality.

Leviticus states concerning the ACT, NOT the person.
Most of the time men are not lying down with men as they would with a woman.
Most of the time men are watching football, posting on USPOL, going food shopping perhaps.
The Jewish Scriptures understands that people are not perfect and it has rules to try to circumvent undesired behavior.
TJS recognizes homosexuality and denigrates the ACT.
There are 613 Commandments.
Homosexuality is a transgression of 2 Commandments and does NOT exempt a Jewish homosexual from observing the other 611.
In fact, for every moment men are not engaged in sodomy, they get credit.
If they keep it to themselves they enjoy all of the privileges that being part of the community offers, including leading the congregation in prayer and being called to read from the Torah on Shabbos and Holidays.
On the other hand, if a Jew is an inveterate thief they should keep that a secret also; bragging is a no-no.
TNT denigrates the individual who engages in the act.

I do not have a problem with polygamy as it results in producing the next generation of citizens. It is Biblicaly supported as Goober pointed out and except for the extremely rich was practiced due to the practical reason of a shortage of men (from war) to keep the species alive. I believe it is still practiced by Muslims with the caveat that each wife has to be treated the same way and I think that is a reasonable condition.
I find it amazing that gay marriage has advanced and not polygamy, especially given an entire State (Utah) devoted to polygamy.
"No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles."
