No it will be a victory for marriage. Here's the proposed wording in the State Constitution:
Sec. 6. Marriage.
Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State. This section does not prohibit a private party from entering into contracts with another private party; nor does this section prohibit courts from adjudicating the rights of private parties pursuant to such contracts.

Question: If there is a civil union which allows for the exact same conditions as marriage, why must a homosexual union be called a marriage?
Another question: Since marriage, as humanity in general understands it, consists of one man and one woman and has through most of recorded human history in all known societies, how is it bigotry to expect what can legitimately be considered the biological norm to continue?

"No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles."

What I think is sad is that we allow those responses to substitute for reasoned debate. Whenever someone pulls the race card, the sex card or the homo card, what they are really saying is they cannot counter your argument with facts so they're going to whine like children until you give them what they want.
