    A hopeful Libertarian View

Ten Ways a Libertarian Society Would Be Different The Future of Freedom Foundation

As much I as sympathize and support the Libertarian view, I think it is in many ways naive and optimistic. It does not change that I am very supportive of most of the view it puts forward. New Hampshire is a good example of how well it can operate.

With that said. I pretty much agree with all but one of the points for the most part.

    7. No more immigration controls. People from all over the world would be as free to travel to the United States to visit, tour, work, invest, and open businesses as people are free to travel domestically within the United States.
This would assume that the rest of the world would honor our sovereignty and not try and subvert our way of life the way they are now. It would entail the rest of the world to actually take up the libertarian viewpoint.

Either way the rest are a great way to run and live in a country. Too bad human nature would corrupt the system eventually as it has our current Republic.

There is plenty on this list I can understand, perhaps even help the argument. But this sort of thing is way too extreme and impractical to try for. It is an attention getter, at best.

Like marxism, it may look good to some on paper, but it would never work out. In practice it would open up a can of worms that could not be dealt with realistically.

To me the 10 things looks like nothing more than a reaction against something(the current system) without really being thought out as to the ramifications. Anything created out of a reaction is doomed to fail in most cases.

This proposed system depends too much upon the good side of human nature which is greatly outweighed by the bad side of human nature. As one cartoon character expressed it, " we have met the enemy... and it is us. ". The enemy being the bad side of human nature.

The whole point of allowing open borders is that in a Libertarian world, it really doesn't matter what your border policy is, there is no border patrol and there is no army (no taxes remember?). So yeah, your sovereignty is based on other people not invading you, and the most effective deterrent to invasion for a Libertarian country is to have no wealth, no natural resources, no plant and equipment, just subsistence farming is pretty much all you can have. Then no one will want to invade, if you have any of that stuff, you can forget Libertarianism

If we combine "No more immigration controls," and "No more gun controls" (points 6 & 7), how would we even know when we've been invaded by a foreign power? The entire Chinese military, with all their tanks, gunships, and rifles could land in California without violating any US laws. Not that it would matter, since we wouldn't have an army to stop them with anyway (point 10).

Or, for that matter, they could just ship over 100 million people just in time for an election....

Since I started this on Libertarian ideals I think this article ads and helps those willing to open their minds about what Libertarians believe.

Libertarianism - Not a Defence of the Rich - The Backbencher

It argues reasonably that the Free Market, which yes we have never had, would not produce the ultra rich and why.
