Will Liberals re-elect former KKK Exalted Cyclops Robert Byrd this fall?

He is up for re-election.

I would never ever vote for a former member of the KKK.

Why do Liberals keep re-electing him over and over and over again?

Maybe the voters base their decision on what he's done lately, like the last 40 years.

Or maybe the voters remember, it was a republican president that burned a cross on the White House lawn.

Once a racist, always a racist, right? He's apologized numerous times for his involvment in the KKK, which lasted less than a year and happend over 60 years ago. Get over it.

Of course he'll be re-elected. All issues aside Sen. Byrd is responsible for alot of money being spent in WV. People whine and complain all the time about the amount of pork in Washington until it's their pork that's being cut.

I remember hearing an old saying about the Senate that (paraphrasing) "that no legislation was passed unless it has something in it for Trent Lott and Robert Byrd"

I would not consider West Virginia to be a state filled with a whole lot of liberals, but aside from that, Byrd will cruise to reelection because he brings a butt load of money back to the state. The highways in WV are the best maintained roads you will ever drive on.

The roads in Kentucky are fine but I recently drove through Missouri and Illinois and they are terriable.

Is it true that in Michigan they use cinders in the winter? I used to live there, but I was a wee lad.

The salt on the roads here kills cars.

Like publicly using the N-word in a deragatory manner in the last few years?

Remember, he did it on a television interview in 2003, I believe, though it may have been 2002. Shouldn't be too hard to locate online if one were interested.

The roads in California suck.

How is it selling out to support a senator who gets good roads in your state?

I have one comment to make in response to this thread: Strom Thurmond, Trent Lott, et al.

What's that old saying about glass houses?

Re: Will Liberals re-elect former KKK Exalted Cyclops Robert Byrd this fall?

This is really pathetic!
I know absolutely nothing about this man, in fact I don't even know if he is a Democrat or Republican. If you are going to judge this man, then do it on the way he votes and the bills he puts forth.

I would like anyone here that has never made a mistake or has never made an insulting statement speak up -- otherwise just forget it. I know he is a politician but being a politician does not mean you have to be perfect. If it did, we would not have one leader in Washington.
