Oh, just staying on topic without getting into irrelevant semantics, that's all.

Jokes and funnies are cool, but the insults can be done without, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah its a shame, you started a good thread and the first post was great.

I think you're right for no-one to get ahead of themselves likein 04, the only difference being that then it was liberals who thought the election was a slam dunk and conservatives saying let's wait and see and this time it seems like most of the Dems not counting any unhatched chickens yet and the GOP pretty much admitting we've lost.

By all means be cautious if you want but you've sure got this one within touching distance.

Thanks Traveler. I guess you're right about this election - the Dems do seem to be a little more cautious this time about claiming any early victories. But I'm still hearing quite a bit of optimism, which I think is stupid, based on the previous presidential election.

I'm not so sure the Dems are going to get those 15 seats they need to take congress. What if they only get 14? We're going to have alot of very depressed - and very surprised - Democrats around here.

What leads you to that conclusion? Virtually every poll I've read and pundit I've heard anticipates record turnout this year compared to previous mid-terms.

FUNNNNNNNNY!, also rather original.

It could be reversed, partisan-wise, and still be funny. but in my opinion, more realistic.

Re: Democrats: Prepare yourselves for upset

The bottom line is you never really know what people are going to do on Election Day. I am a very active volunteer with political campaigns and there was a Pittsburgh City Council race I worked on last year where every weekend when we were going door to door we got great responses from people about the candidate and on Election Day he got slaughtered in a landslide.

Another good example is the 2002 Georgia Governor's race where the big polls had Sonny Perdue trailing the incumbent through the whole race and finally had Perdue losing by 12 points on Election Day. He ended up winning by 6.

So, you really don't know. People tell you one thing and do another or they don't show up to vote. You just don't know.

I don't think that most people are buying it. Especially since it came out of the mouth of a man with a 30 year history of slamming the military, starting with his testimony before Congress in the early 70's.

I agree. In fact, initial absentee ballots even have been rather high this year so far.
