Nah, it'll take two weeks to recall all of those Democratic election lawyers and another 2 weeks to pass out the crying towels.

Re: Democrats: Prepare yourselves for upset

Well, it's 5 a.m. on Wednesday, and it looks like the Democrats have a good chance of taking the senate, with Jim Webb in Virginia now up by over 7,000 votes, and John Tester in Montana up with over 6,000. There will be recounts in both states no doubt, but it looks good for the Dems.

Re: Democrats: Prepare yourselves for upset

Even here Down Under, we are keenly following all the election updates...

Go Dems!

I feel sorry for the Republicans who may have lost their seat, and their supporters here, but I think this will be a turn for the best for the US, and for the world.

We need this psychological boost.

Re: Democrats: Prepare yourselves for upset

I don't know about that, me, I'll see what comes of this. Being as skeptical as I am, I'll take a raincheck on any celebrating. After all, the Democrats may have won the house and maybe even the Senate, but now we'll see if anything gets done or whether they're just as lousy as the last batch of nincompoops. Of course considering the American people have opted for any kind of change, even an unproven one (or well proven one, depending on who you talk to), and thus all I can say is "We'll see". Hell, the worst that could happen is just as large a bunch of nincompoops as feared. ^.^

Update: On a hopeful note, maybe this means Americans wont tolerate such nincompoops any longer. Which is a start that will hopefully lead to a greater nation overall, it also means that the democrats wont get any second chances. Which is the way it should be, such important matters should not be in the hands of nincompoops, and the more accountability the better. So again me being hopeful, maybe our tolerance for morons is finally gone. One could only hope, of course to me, it seems only reasonable that you have capable people in power from the beginning (But what do I know?). o.o

I agree. I'm very skeptical about where this will lead. I think we can allow for one day of celebration though.

I would like to say a word or two in defence of 'chickens'. Although, we called them poultry and chooks. Chickens merely the babies. I don't know under what conditions you kept your chooks, but I have never known them to eat each other or each other's faeces. Animals are usually as good as those who husband them, so if yours did these things then perhaps you should take a good hard look at your 'farming' methods.

Our chooks were free-range and never saw a cage in their lives. Every now and then us kids in the street would gather around for the exciting time when one or other of our fathers would chop off one of the chook's heads. What bloodthirsty creatures we were! On the other hand, I know all about what it means when someone says "running around like a chook with it's head chopped off! I've also dressed and cleaned a chook when young, definitely couldn't face it now! LOL

Forgive me for going off-topic, but a rebuttal was definitely called for.

Back on topic, it's nice to see that Herr Rumsfeld has been shown the door <g>.

Of course, not so much for the democrats (Who won simply because they weren't republicans), but for the system it self. The people have tossed out some lousy boozos (maybe to be replaced with new ones), and while they may be wrong, they schooled Washington in who is in charge of this country. No longer will we tolerate idiots and morons who think they know whats best for them is what is best for us. I just hope the Democrats realize this, otherwise they'll shoot themselves in the foot just like the Republicans. Though, I wont hold my breath, I don't expect much from a party that hasn't proved much. Still, don't let my doom and gloom and "told'cha so" get in the way of anyones celebrating. ^.^

The Republicans of course, have no one to blame but themselves, leaving the country with unaswered questions and overall a lack of direction (except the one that keeps being repeated over and over and over like a broken record). This of course, is a time where we have so many important answers that need to be solved, energy, immigration, education, etc. Not that I believe the democrats can answer these question, they won simply because they weren't republican, not because they had any real solution to anything. Short of tossing 'em all out, I believe this is at least a good step forward in the name of democracy, whether you agree on the means of getting there inbetween. Now Democrats, what'cha got besides "The Republicans did it?"
