Election Day Continues for Some

According to the Washington Post this morning, there are 9 House elections still undecided.

Quote:
In Connecticut, Democrat Joe Courtney leads Rep. Rob Simmons by a scant 166 votes. Almost a quarter of a million votes were cast. Recounts were scheduled through the weekend in 64 towns.
Quote:
Rep. Deborah Pryce, a member of the House Republican leadership, leads her central Ohio race by 3,536 votes, pending the count of more than 9,000 provisional ballots.
Quote:
Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio), who called Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) a coward last November, is ahead of her challenger, Victoria Wulsin (D), by 2,862 votes. Counting provisional and absentee ballots could take nearly two weeks.
Quote:
Rep. Barbara Cubin (R-Wyo.), who threatened to slap her wheelchair-bound Libertarian opponent after a debate late last month, is ahead of Democrat Gary Trauner by fewer than a thousand votes as canvassing continued. The Libertarian, Thomas Rankin, has garnered approximately 7,500 votes.
Quote:
In Georgia, freshman Rep. John Barrow (D) leads former congressman Max Burns (R) by fewer than 900 votes in a rematch of their 2004 race, which was decided by nearly 8,000 votes.
Quote:
The vast majority of voters in a suburban Seattle district cast ballots by mail, and they count as long as they were postmarked by Tuesday. Rep. David G. Reichert (R) led Darcy Burner by about 3,100 votes three days after poll-based voting ended.
Quote:
Rep. Robin Hayes (R-N.C.) had a 449-vote lead over Larry Kissell (D), with about 1,500 provisional ballots remaining to be counted.
Quote:
Rep. Heather A. Wilson (R-N.M.) led Patricia Madrid (D) by about 1,600 votes, with about 4,400 ballots still to be tallied.
Quote:
A recount is set to begin Wednesday in the Florida district represented by Rep. Katherine Harris (R). Republican Vern Buchanan has a 373-vote lead over Christine Jennings (D) and has declared victory.
Democrats are ahead narrowly in two of the races. Most or all of the seats will probably go to Republicans.

isnt it funny they had to point out the wheel chair bound person...

how was that important ? oh press going for more emotional impact the threat of a slap wasn't bad enough if she was black would they have noted that also ? Or if the threatener was muslim would they promote that fact ?
Its funny how pc can be seen in thesmallest of things ...

I have no clue on why the threat of slapping I dont care about the R or D behind the name either.

i just am pointing out the fact they pointed out the wheel chair bound part.

I guess that is an insult to Thomas Rankin.

Other than that, pathetic threats of violence give us insight as to the character of a person. Shoiuld someone who threatens to slap someone, anyone, deserve to serve in public office?

I suspect they did that (a) to make the story more "interesting" (i.e., sensationalism), and (b) to make even more pathetic the good Congresswoman from Wyoming. To threaten to slap your opponent is wrong; to threaten to slap someone in a wheelchair is pitiful.

Re: Election Day Continues for Some

yup my point they wanted to sensationalize it

She was angry at a person and said something wrong i dont think she saw her as a person in a wheel chair but as a person... maybe she is a hero for overlooking her handicap and seeing her as a person :P

i dont care if democrat or republican threatinging is wrong period

but so is sensationalizing the issue for readership

Here's one I really hope the Democrat wins and not even for partisan reasons. Mean Jean, as they call her now, does not deserve a seat after calling a war veteran a coward. She is disgraceful.

You mean, kind of like the way you talk crap about Rakkasan on a daily basis, questioning and disparaging his patriotism?

Or is it only disgraceful to talk crap about a Democrat veteran?

It seems like you want a divided society, with one set of rules for Democrats, and another set for the other, inferior members of society. You certainly act that way pretty often.

Agreed.

It's one thing to say bad things about someone on a political forum that, while entertaining, is not in the grand scheme of things that important. It's quite another to stand up in the House of Representatives and call another member - a decorated Marine - a coward.

I've never called him a coward and I certainly don't call folks who want to redeploy the troops cowards. I don't see any comparison. I see the difference between being patriotic toward a President and being patriotic towards a country and it's constitution. I see the difference between patriotism and loyalty, do you? I don't talk crap about Rakkasan, he and I get along just fine. Are you trying to drive a wedge between us? What exactly are you trying to do?

How about we talk about the topic instead of eachother? How about it mod?

Rakkasan, I apologize, I have obviously offended you and I am sorry. I'm just spouting off my opinion on this crap and I don't regard your service as nothing, I am proud to know you, if only virtually and I respect your service a great deal.

Why? I don't particularly care for Murtha, but how does name calling disqualify someone from politics?
