Gotta go with the WSJ and the NYT for sheer reporting. I bypass the opinion pages, though.

It really doesn't matter which station or forum you choose. They are all controlled by the same interest and they just give you an illusion of choice. Bill Moyers gave an excellent speech at the National Conference for Media Reform that give great insight into the current media state. I would recommend everyone check out his speech. While I may not agree with all his statements there are many things to cause pause within.

And I don't understand the comparison of moveon to Fox News. Maybe you're trying to say Fox News is the extreme and radical right's version of moveon. But moveon is nowhere close to the viewership of Fox News. Why compare two objects of vastly different sizes?
The objective of moveon for a very long time is to show fox the media outlet for the "right" is pushing a agenda and is a right wing talking head so to speak

Yet by movon and other left organizations pushing to their peeps that FOX is the devil they are doing just the same as FOX is supposed to be doing BRAINWASHING

in the end all media should be allowed regardless of slant or intent

air america is good for america it pushes nothing but left ideals

FOX TALK Radio pushes nothing but right ideals

Fox tv is right slanted

CBS at times is left slanted

in the end there is nothing wrong with that and it should be a issue

FREE PRESS is just that isnt it?

That's correct, it would be unwarranted and intellectually foolish of you to comment about FoxNews unless you actually watch it and listen to it. Similarly, if any of us don't listen to what Hillary has said, we can't comment on her non-stop campaign of distortion, misinformation, and her general advocacy of a Socialist agenda.

Am I the only one who finds Jim Lehrer truly fair and balanced? When Pat Buchanon and Dee Dee Myers are given equal time to discuss issues, I can't understand why neocons claim that PBS is liberal. Maybe the neocons would be happy if "Mating habits of the spider-monkey" included abstinence training.

I wonder if I could read transcripts of the show or watch youtube clips of Bill O'Really. I know somebody who based their username from a debilitating disease wouldn't be able to comprehend something like that, righ Salmonella?

PBS is abolutely the most balanced television presentation of the news. In addition to Lehrer (and Suarez although he was better on NPR's talk of the nation) I also watch the sunday news shows on PBS - Eye on Washington and McLaughlin. They include representatives from the Washington Times and the Weekly Standard. And those are not even news outlets but house organs for the moonie church and PNAC respectively.
NPR also does a phenomenal job on radio with talk of the nation and the morning and evening news shows.

Their objectives are not my point. My point was why compare a multi-million network like Fox to a grass-root group like moveon and claim both sides are getting equal opportunity?

So I tuned to Fox News yesterday to see the post State of the Union address commentary and what I saw was shocking. I mean, back when I watched Fox News, they were biased and unfair too but it was nowhere close to the current level.

First of all, no Fox News achor would go more than five minutes without stabbing the Democrats in the backs. As in: Boy, the President is great, he has great plans... what will the Democrats do to stop this great man and the great vision for America?

Among the things I heard on Fox that is known to be wrong:

Fox: GM and Ford got screwed in negotiating union workers' health plan. Bush's plan will help corporations like Ford and GM.

Facts: Ford re-negotiated with the union over a year ago and saved $850 millions in the process. GM also got a similar deal with their union. Not discussed is the reason for the government to jump in and intrude on private business. If you overpaid for your house, would the government jump in and give you a break? Then why should private corporations get intruded upon? Bad deals are part of the Laissez-faire that Republicans often preached but rarely followed.

Fox: the Democrats want us to leave Iraq right now!

Facts: most Democrats prefer a phased withdraw. Note the term "phased withdraw." No prominent Democrat has ever proposed we just pack up and leave tomorrow. Many favors a phased withdraw that last more than two years and up the level of training for the Iraqis poice and military during the phased withdraw. Some also favor a re-deployment that stations our troops either just outside of Iraq or in less hostile part of Iraq, and of course, to Afghanistan.

Fox: No one has a plan for Iraq. This president has a plan.

Fact: No one has a plan? Does the Iraq Study Group rings any bell?

Fox: If America put worth its maximum effort, resource, and dedication to this war, we can win it.

Fact: I agree we can win it if we dump our "maximum" into it. But talk about an incompete thought. The "minimum" that is needed to secure Bagdad as estimated by leaders who successfully rebuild Bosnia is 400,000 troops at about $20 billions US dollars a day. Where are we going to get the troops and who is going to pay for it? Will Fox News support a military draft? Will Murdock shoulders some of the cost of the war increase?

And that's just in 30 minutes of viewing and just the things I know off the top of my head. Who knows how much garbage and spins were embedded that I didn't catch. Now I understand how some of the conservatives on this board are so, well, less informed than the average citizens.
I think the solution to your pain is to stop watching Fox News. I don't quite understand why you would take the time to watch something that you clearly hate.

I also wonder if you realize that you and the other Fox News bashers out there are no different than your opponents who believe that the mainstream news outlets are biasedly left, a claim that I'm sure you will vehemently deny. Just as you claim Fox News to be biased to the right wing, there are just as many people on the right who claim a left wing bias to CNN, NBC, the New York Times, etc. Does that mean they too understand how some of the leftists on this board are "so, well, less informed than the average citizens?" All you are is the political opposite of these same people you are criticizing, but you think you are just as right about what you say as they do.

Spend your time on something more useful and in the meantime stop watching Fox News.
