Thumbs down Would-be Puppeteers send Mitt-for-Brains Millions

Unfortunately, the GOP now seems to be faced with yet another idiot who doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon:

Quote:
The Romney campaign reports that it raised 23 (m) million dollars during the first quarter of 2007, rivaling the 26 (m) million dollars raised by Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Meanwhile, the campaign for Republican Rudy Giuliani reported donations totaling 15 (m) million dollars.

...

Senator John McCain of Arizona has not yet divulged his first-quarter campaign fundraising figures.
Source

An unpopular candidate who just so happens to be the favorite of the Bush crowd now appears ready to plague us on the air. God help us - and the Republicans.

Re: Would-be Puppeteers send Mitt-for-Brains Millions

It's all about the money, and the Bush machine is behind Mitt, because like them he is all about crony capitalism.
Expect Mitt to get the nomination, when the Swift Boat veterans re-appear to knock Giuliani and McCain and whatever other Republicans think they may want to intrude on the Bush family's prerogative to determine who the GOP nominee will be.

That's why the mainstream Republican PACs (and maybe even some Democratic PACs as well) need to focus on hitting Romney hard and early with swiftboating of their own. Who knows? Perhaps they'll even cooperate!

I doubt Romney could beat Hillary and Bill.

Romney could win in Massachusetts, if a Republican can win in Massachusetts, what's left for Democrats? the states to the left of Massachusetts?

Of course that Romney supported Gay marriage, and was Pro-Choice and supported Universal Health Care.
That Romney said he would be a better friend to gays than Ted Kennedy.

That Romney is on hold, while the Pro-Life, Pro School Prayer, Anti-Gay, Conservative Romney is running for the Republican nomination, then the other Romney can run for President.

You think Romney could win Massachusetts? I don't.

Raising the most money doesn't mean you'll be the nominee anyway.

Re: Would-be Puppeteers send Mitt-for-Brains Millions

The days that Mark Warner and Evan Bayh dropped out of the race were the key turning points of the 2008 campaign, paving the way for an easy Republican victory in 2008.

If anyone out there actually beleives that either Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, or Barrack Obama are going to become the 44th President of the United States are seriously delusional. I predict an election eerily similar to the 1988 election Bush versus Dukasis: GOP wins by a comfortable margin

Sure, if Christy Whitman or Olympia Snowe got the nomination!

Re: Would-be Puppeteers send Mitt-for-Brains Millions

I am curious - since Hillary has raised more money, is she more of a "puppet", or does this concept only apply to Republicans?

Oh, she's definitely a puppet in that she's beholden to her contributors. But she's much better at getting her own way from time to time than either George W or Mitt.

I would say so. I would say that this concept applies anywhere and everywhere that money is involved.*

If you think Romney could win in MA, you obviously has never been to or hasn't been to Massachusett in quite a while.

Romney wouldn't even win a governor re-election if he had decided to seek a second term in MA. He is a big reason Massachusettians gave Democrats almost total control of the governorship, statewide constitutional offices, Congress, both chambers of the state Legislature, and the Governor's Council.

Quote:

Romney, a Republican in a Democratic state who won election by less than 5 percentage points , never had much of a honeymoon in Massachusetts. In 2003, as he approached his 100th day in office, only 55 percent of residents had a favorable opinion of him, according to a Globe poll at the time. His popularity has declined markedly since the spring of this year, after he decided not to run for reelection and began spending large chunks of time out of state.

In an October Globe/WBZ poll, 54 percent of likely voters in the November governor's race expressed an unfavorable view of Romney and 34 percent a favorable view.

Voters voice regard, regret over Romney - The Boston Globe
My dog Sparky has a better chance of winning a general election in MA than Romney.
