Your thoughts on New Hampshire debate?

Caught the last hour or so...about the same as the last debate, but a little more of a calm atmosphere.

Same old stuff from Rudy McRomney. Nothing new there, really.

The guy from Wisconsin, can't remember his name -- his speech on healthcare and our need for more prevention rather than SICK-care was bad-ass. That being said, overall - he still does not impress me very much.

I think Tom Tancredo shot himself in the foot with his comment on closing off most Legal Immigration. Let me first say that I like Tancredo, but I don't think that was the platform nor the time to say that. I really think it will hurt him with moderates. Giuliani, for all of his faults, came off with a pretty good response to him and whipped up some thunder.

Ron Paul made the most sense out of anyone -- YET AGAIN. Maybe I'm nuts but I guess I'm one of the only ones hearing the sanity in each of his words. But, that's only my viewpoint. Furthermore, Ron Pauls only real weakness is he is not hitting back hard enough. He is making the Kerry mistake in hoping that his points laid out on their own will be sufficient.

Overall, it's about what I expected. Ron Paul makes sense, the others throw peanuts, and Rudy and the gang exude cockiness.

Everyone elses thoughts?

Re: Your thoughts on New Hampshire debate?

I didn't see the debate, but the internet seems to be generating quite the buzz for Ron Paul. However I did read one commentary following the last debate whereby his statements re the US bringing 9/11 onto itself due to its actions, would see his undoing once the muck-raking proper starts later in the year. As I said in another thread today, modern politics is less about substance and more about how you sell the product, which is why policy and idea lightweights such as Romney and Thompson are able to generate big buzzes.

And that's a quality we don't need in a President...

Re: Your thoughts on New Hampshire debate?

Ron Pauls weakness in regards to the Republican voters is that he is against the Iraq war. Naturally this endears him to Democrats.

As for the debate format, CNN seemed to be a bit biased, as evidenced by the "GOP and Big Oil" segment. Things like that are why the Dems didnt want to go on FOX no doubt. Luckily repubs arent afraid of their critics.
