Re: Would/Could You Run?

I remember riding home on the bus during the Gulf War, and talking to about 5 or 6 older gentlemen about current events, 1 of the men told me he'd vote for me for president. I didn't even say I wanted to run, he just told me he'd vote for me based on our discussion.

I haven't given it much thought since then, but recently I started thinking it's high time to start writing a platform. My wife and I have begun with a 10 year goal to complete our platform for the presidency. So we're probably talking about a 2020, 2024 run. If we don't run, maybe we'll shop our platform around, and be policy advisers; maybe we'll need another ten years.

I think everyone who feels strongly about government should write their own platform, even if we have no intention of running for president, we may run for a lower office, or at least think a little more about those whom we elect to serve us.

To answer the question: I would run, and could run, once I'm satisfied with my platform. I've got a lot of life experience (translation: "skeletons"), that may make for some salacious headlines, but that is what has made me who I am, and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Wait a minute. Are you saying you basically agree with what I said but are offended that someone from the outside said it? If you weren't pissed off, then why seem like it. You did say "fucking canadian", right?

And by the way, logic doesn't follow that enraged Canadians would be the only Canadians who might post on a site titled "UsPoliticsOnline"; people who are invigorated by possibilities and who care about the world and want ideas to flourish and who want to shake things up are here, so too are people who like to just shoot the shit about important things and maybe pick up a thing or two about a thing or two. You don't have to dislike America or American policy to be here, you just have to be curious and interested in the world around you.
